FYI,
The reason why carolina panthers won't make the playoffs.

It's not the carolina panthers players,

it's the coaches.

Do you think Steve Smith will finsih his career as a Carolina Panther?

Posted by: mike nelson | Sep 7, 2008 9:06:51 AM

Do you think the performance of the first team defense during the preseason (5 quarters of play, gave up only a single FG) is indicative of how they'll play throughtout the regular season? In other words, did our defense perform really well against Indianapolis, Washington, and Philadelphia's first team offenses? Or, were those playoff teams just suffering from a step back this year?

A lot of NFL analysts are still saying Steve Smith shouldn't have been suspended by the team for these first two games...i.e., this was a team-induced penalty and not something the league would have mandated to punish him for the fight with Ken Lucas during training camp.

They also claim that sitting Smith for these two games essentially hurts the team's chances for success by removing one of their best players against what should amount to two very difficult teams (i.e., San Diego and Chicago).

If that's the case, do you believe this move will ultimately hurt the Panthers' chances of winning these two games...and if so, does that jeopardize their chances to make the playoffs...and as a result, does that not also jeopardize Fox and Hurney's jobs, considering many people believe this may be their last year unless they can dramatically improve the team's performance?

Who will be assigned to cover Antonio Gates? And do you think we will be able to run the ball and stop the run?

Here are a few things I would like to know:

How everyone looks in warm ups, especially Hackett & Chris Harris.

If the Chargers will be starting their 2nd string left tackle. How do Rivers & Gates look in warm ups?

Seeing as how we have Dan Conner and Landon Johnson ready to play, is there any [word/chance/speculation] of possibly one of them subbing for Thomas Davis, and then play the Joker defense to cover LaDainian Tomlinson - with TD being the Joker?

Posted by: Trainwasher | Sep 7, 2008 10:08:12 AM

Wow. That Joker question seems extra important with it being asked so many times. ;-)

Here's another question. What kind of distance is Rhys Lloyd and Jason Baker getting on their kicks in warm-ups? The weather is supposed to be excellent in San Diego...mid-60's, partly cloudy, light breeze. I sure hope those guys can pin the Chargers down on special teams. With San Diego's high-powered offense, it would be a good thing to consistently give them a long field to navigate.

How much can we expect to see of Jonathan Stewart today? Does D.J. Hackett look ready to play/start?

Posted by: DB | Sep 7, 2008 12:00:51 PM

Someone has already asked about Hackett, but how does Moose look after coming back from his injuries against Philly?

RK, according to reports on the NFL network, the Chargers 2nd string LT will be starting today against JP. Good news for us =).

One more question, in lue of Trainwasher's quetion: do you think the Panthers will stick with the more stout guys up front on defense or opt for the faster line to cover LT by moving Brayton inside?

Go Panthers!

Is Jeff Davidson coaching from the pressbox or sidelines?

Posted by: D. Henning | Sep 7, 2008 1:53:16 PM

I'm thinking this Panthers team has the potential to be really special. There seem to be so many offensive and defensive weapons. Do you agree? Am I believing too much of the pre-season hype? well, maybe it's my own hope in the pre-season. I've found very few articles of people who look at the Panthers as the upset team of the year - but then again, not much happened the year many picked the Panthers to be really good....

Posted by: Brad | Sep 7, 2008 1:58:42 PM

What is the team's mindset being without Steve Smith for the next 2 games?

Do the players really think they can pull out a win today without him vs one of the best teams in the AFC?

Posted by: James | Sep 7, 2008 2:11:49 PM

here's to a great season!!

1) any word on the starter opposite muhammad?

2) will gates be a full speed or still hurting?

3) what are your opinions of the d-line for the panthers this season. other then peppers i think this could be an area of concern this year, brayton lewis and kemo-fatso are weak, no apss rush other then peppers who is forced to drop back alot because of scheme by trgovac?

Posted by: brendan | Sep 7, 2008 2:46:46 PM

How does chris harris look in warm up.
how does mark jones look in warm up.

Posted by: Creighton | Sep 7, 2008 3:02:24 PM

NOTE FROM QUALCOMM:

To those of you who like the Panthers in their light blue jerseys, that's what they're wearing today.

The Chargers are wearing white.

So naturally the Panthers would choose the blue instead of black, because the lighter the jersey, the cooler.

Which defensive player will have the speaker in his helment? Chris Harris or Beason?

Posted by: tj | Sep 7, 2008 3:08:34 PM

How much of merriman should we be expected to see?

Posted by: john | Sep 7, 2008 3:17:00 PM

When did they go to San Diego? I hope they got there in time to recoup from traveling 3 time zones.
