Smith talks
Panthers receiver Steve Smith had an extended interview session with reporters today, taking questions for more than 20 minutes in the locker room.
He said he was excited to be back with the Panthers, was touched by how well teammates received him and ready to get his season started Sunday at Minnesota.

I think this is a very good sign, not because he actually said anything in particular, but smitty has always been standoff-ish with the media and if he is comfortable enough after all of this to talk to them, then maybe he really is "stress free" as he said on his blog.
i think this can do nothing but help the panthers. if smitty is this loose and comfortable, then i can't wait to see him play.
several people have mentioned that this group has something special going on, not just the 2-0 record, but there is a feeling about this group that is very different. smitty said in his interview on the michael irvin show, that it felt like a college team as far as their camaraderie. that too, can't be a bad thing.
GO PANTHERS!

Fox has already said that Smith will start this week (despite being away/not practicing for two weeks). Who will be starting opposite Smith?
I would like to see Moose get the nod for this week. This will be a tough opponent, and Jake needs two WR's that he trusts on the field. More importantly, this will be an old fashioned slug-fest: with running games and defenses facing off. Moose is the monster blocker and can open things up in the running game as well.
That being said, Hackett definately has some speed and ability. I would love to see Jake throw some more in his direction as the season progresses.

I just hope that the media can let it go after today. I keep hearing that Smith owes the media and us fans another apology, but I call BS. The only thing he owes us is his best effort out on that football field.
If his teammates, and particularly Ken Lucas, can let it go, why can't the media?

Hey again everyone! I'd like to ask you all something that has been poking at my mind these last few days about Dwayne Jarrett. When I look at the WR core, I see Smith Starting at WR1, and DJ Hackett and Moose at 2nd and 3rd respectively. Then there's Dwayne Jarrett.
How long do you think it will take for Dwayne Jarrett to be good enough to crack the starting lineup? Will he overtake Moose near the end of the season or get his spot when he retires?

time to start him this week in my fantasy football league! he was a steal late in the draft 4 me!
I hope Smitty and J-Stew get 2 TD's each!
I'd also like to get J.Kasay off waivers and start him over Dalas's kicker.

funny... Fox Sports .com.
ppl said they didnt want him cuz he was suspended, and thought Dellhomme sucked with his bad elbow -who btw was drafted 12th in my league.
I got him with my 8th pick (out of 15) so i figure thats pretty late for such a offensive threat

Revshawn- I think Jarrett might get his shot at some point durting this season, but I hope he only sees limited action due to smitty, moose and dj's effectiveness, plus wacthing and learning from those guys won't hurt, he is very young, just 21, i think, so he can still develop into a decent player, i think.

Jarrett will get some playing time in this season with Hackett's propensity of getting injured. He can also be plugged in when Moose gets winded.... a very good problem to have at WR this season. TE is deep as well. Jake definitely has plenty of weapons to throw too.
