Answering your questions

1). The defense really dominated today, but what's up with all the dropped interceptions by the defense? Same thing for the recivers on offense. What can they do to fix this?

Posted by: Renegade | Oct 19, 2008 4:40:17 PM

Renegade: The secondary is very aware of how many potential INTs they drop. I'm sure they're working on it in practice. With the receivers, you take the good with the bad. Steve Smith dropped an easy one, but he also caught a long TD pass while sitting down in the end zone! -- David

2). I said we were going to crush them. Great game. We made Brees look inferior.Defense was stellar. Offense was pretty good too.Whats up with the game in London? Any games there for Carolina in the future?

Posted by: bryant80 | Oct 19, 2008 4:42:27 PM

Bryant80: Not sure, but the NFL wants to send its glamour teams overseas for games like that. Don't think the Panthers fit the bill yet. -- David

3). During blow out games, why do the Panthers coaching staff continue to keep the starters in way after the game is out of reach with a win or loss? During the KC blow out the starters were in the game almost the entire game and Steve Smith about got hurt. This game I see Chris Harris grabing his knee on the second to last play of the game. The score is 30 to 7??? We are going to pay dearly one of these games when we leave our starters in too long. Don't we want our back ups to get game experience too?

T-dog: Good question. Sometimes a lead never seems safe, I guess. But I agree, get those starters out when you can (especially on the O-line!). -- David

4). How banged up is Jonathan Stewart?

Posted by: Ward | Oct 19, 2008 5:18:49 PM

Ward: He's fine. In fact no injuries were reported after the game. -- David

5). Is Davis ok? He was hurt twice this game

Posted by: jake the snake | Oct 19, 2008 5:37:01 PM

Jake: He's fine. -- David

6). Why the heck do the Panthers come out totally flat one week (Tampa) and so dominating the next week? It was almost like they didn't care about beating Tampa. It's a freaking CONFERENCE GAME.

And just for variety's sake, was it just my imagination or was the stadium half empty?

Posted by: David R | Oct 19, 2008 6:33:30 PM

David R: The first question will always be a great mystery of sports. Lots of teams do that. And it was your imagination about the stadium, although there were plenty of no-shows. -- David

Unlike Peter St. Onge in the political column, fortunately this blog will allow for alternative view points! Now here is a question that continues to baffle - why is it that Fox shuts down everything in the first half when we could move the ball & score - this is two games in a row where we could have gotten into at least field goal range and yet we chose to burn the clock. Also why the heck did the coaches thing that Jones was an upgrade at punt returner - he is terrible! Hope we didnt pay much for him.
Again, thanks for accepting this comment instead of making a political statement like your leftist buddy St. Onge and ignoring things you dont like.

The Peppers roller coaster continues, how many more good games does he have to put together to stay and have the panthers invest the even bigger bucks.

Posted by: Joey | Oct 19, 2008 11:03:55 PM

Absolutely right, Ben. It makes TOTAL sense that we would get down the field from our own 9 and score with 58 seconds left on the clock. SUPER realistic.

Honestly if someone has Panther tickets that they don't want, send them to me! I love the Panthers and I'd be more than happy to go see the games in your stead! Please!

As a diehard Panthers fan, I have a question: Why is it so difficult for the national media to recognize the accomplish ments of the Panthers?

Posted by: Darlene Yandle | Oct 20, 2008 9:46:59 AM

Oh yeah--something else...did anyone notice the Fox announcer call Jake "Delehome?" At the time he was talking about something Jake likes to do. If he's that knowledgeable about Jake's style and preferences, seems to me he should be able to pronounce his name!

Posted by: Darlene Yandle | Oct 20, 2008 9:51:33 AM

Why does it seem like Fox and the other networks like to send their 'B' team to cover Panthers games? I am so tired of hearing Smitty called "Steven" and if one more 'professional' announcer mispronounces Jake's last name I may lose it. Learn the names and how to pronounce them. It is very very disrespectful to come into our house and screw up the names.

Um, could not an argument be made that the NFC South is better than the NFC East? With the Cowboys self-destructing, the Eagles playing very mediocre, the Skins playing better than expected but not stellar yet, and the G-Men still dominating the division; could one not argue that the NFC South has a much more competitive playoff race ahead. The Panther and the Bucs are both neck and neck, Atlanta is the little engine that could, and you can never count NO out of it.

What do you think?

Can we all agree that John Fox is finally off the hot seat?

When the Rams are able to defeat 2 of the NFC East teams, I dont think there is much argument.

Posted by: matt | Oct 20, 2008 12:44:42 PM

No we cannot agree that fox is off the hotseat! 7 weeks into the season and we are 5-2. I believe what he has changed for the better was his ablility to let our offense open things up more, but the fact is he doesn't play with this strategy consistent enough. He needs to understand that players feed off him so when he comes off as nonchalant as he has in the past it transfers to the field. I saw the most energy from Fox yesterday when he inherently grew angry from a bad unnecessary roughness called against one of his players. Consistency is his cryponite and it's something he needs to work on. I am satisfied with the past week's performance, but he needs to understand that you must play to your team's maximum ability and not to your failing coaching game strategy. I am not going to call for his head, but I think with this FIREFOX issue lingering around him it makes him a better coach.

FIREFOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FIREFOX,

You truly are an idiot. I say that with the utmost sincerity and truthfulness. Go change the rubber bands on your braces and make sure you drink milk before bed to get a good night's rest. Oh, and contrary to popular belief, tooth paste does not dry out pimples!

pete rozelles wish for parity has instead turned the league into mediocrity. falcons are smoke and mirrors, saints have no defense, cowboys are lost without parcells and i predict a owens implosion.since brady went down the a.f.c is up for grabs.tenn and kerry collins are its best .giants should make the s.b cause coughlin is the best coach in the league.panthers have a good shot.giants 37 chargers 30 in s.b.
