Answering your pregame questions

QUESTION: Is Otah available to play, even as a sub? DReed
Offensive tackle Jeff Otah is inactive with a sprained ankle. Receiver Dwayne Jarrett is inactive for a third straight week. Also inactive are tackle Jordan Gross, QB Matt Moore, receiver Ryne Robinson, linebacker James Anderson and defensive tackle Gary Gibson. DAVID

Jeremy Bridges is extpeced to start at right tackle for Otah. Travelle Wharton is expected to play left guard, not left tackle. With Jordan Gross out at left tackle, it looks like Frank Omiyale will play there. That means Geoff Hangartner will begin the game on the bench. CHARLES

QUESTION: How much longer for Ryne Robinson to come back? Andrew
His knee injury is one of the mysteries of this season. A few weeks ago, Ryne said he felt good enough that he could return any time. Last week, he seemed a little less certain. Sorry we can't shed more light on this: The Panthers are really tight-lipped about this kind of thing. DAVID

QUESTION: Hi guys, so what is your prediction for the game? Also is it not safe to say that if the Panthers don't turn the ball over and stop Larry Johnson that the Cats should win the game in a blowout? John
I predicted Carolina 28-10, and David predicted Carolina 30-7 ... so we'd agree with you. CHARLES

QUESTION: Do you agree with making Jarrett inactive? I really think he would help in the passing game, I'm sure we could make room somewhere. And if they were to make room, how would they do it? Thanks alot guys. Andrew
In a best-case scenario, Jarrett would be active, but if that's what it takes for Rhys Lloyd to be active, it's worth it. Also, the Panthers have been dressing out three tight ends -- Rosario, King and Gary Barnidge. Keep an eye on Barnidge today. This could be the week you notice him. CHARLES

QUESTION: Although DeAngelo Williams does his best on straight-up-the-gut runs, that's not his forte. I do not understand this comment from a previous story .... what does it mean? BETSY
Our good buddy Scott Fowler wrote the article on DeAngelo. It means that running up the middle isn't what DeAngelo majors in, but he does his best when he's called upon to do it. Scott's overall take was that it's fine that DeAngelo is still starting, but that if he doesn't break off some long runs soon, it'll be time to get Stewart more carries. Some people, however, think the time to play Stewart more already has come. CHARLES

QUESTION: Was there any consideration for bringing Geoff Schwartz up off the practice squad? How has he been developing? Michael
Not yet. He's working hard on the practice squad and has some potential, but you probably wouldn't want to see him play just yet. CHARLES

Does that mean Barnidge has been featured in a few practice plays? I thought he clearly needed to get some working in on his blocking to see legit PT under Fox, but if that's happened, that's another weapon in the passing game to stretch the middle of the field.
