Brooks: 'I'm gonna getcha Jake'
When told that Tampa Bay linebacker Derrick Brooks thinks Carolina is his team's biggest rival, Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme laughed.
"It's exciting to play them, because you know you've got to be pretty good," said Delhomme, whose team plays in Tampa Sunday. "You've got to be on your game because if not, they'll make you pay."
Told that Brooks said there was a lot of on-field talking that goes on between the teams, Delhomme said, "Yeah, but it's a healthy thing.
"You get to know guys personally when you play them more than once a year. I spent some time at the Pro Bowl with Ronde (Barber) and Derrick. And Derrick is such a wonderful person, on and off the field.
There's no malicious intent when he's on the field -- I mean, he's gonna hit you; there's no doubt. But early on playing against them, I can remember throwing and hearing him talk in that deep voice, 'I'm gonna getcha, Jake, I'm gonna getcha," and just laughing.
"And that's him, and that's great, and that's what it's about. He's a true class act, on and off the field, and you respect guys like that."
*On another subject, for those worried about Carolina DE Julius Peppers, who slipped to 2.5 sacks last year, he's got three through five games this season. Bucs coach Jon Gruden, who has watched a lot of recent film on Peppers, said, "Julius is back," and called him "an upper-echelon player in the world."

GO get'm Jake! torch that fool and his team with a few TD passes to Smitty, Moose, and Jarrett.
then D-Will and J-Stew can roll over teh tierd defense.
Julius, go get you a few sacks on that old QB.
GO PANTHERS! win to distance yourselves from the rest of the NFC South!

I wouldnt want to be so cocky..they play the cover-2 better than any team (they invented it)..their front four is one of the best in the leagues..Brooks is still one of the best LBs and Ruud is another good LB they have..remember Garcia from last yr and from the Philly game 2 yrs back..I like our chances but our O-line is hurting and backups play good for one game not for 2 in a row- there is a reason they are the backups..so we shall see!

Hey, Hey , Hey. 'I'm gonna getcha Jake'

I take "pride" in our team, but I will respect the other team and tell you what every position is good at and doubt if we can pull it off. Our backups were good for 1 game, but everyone knows they can't repeat it. It's in their contract that it will be impossible for them to have 2 good back to back games. That's why they are backups....the starters are not merely just better than the 2nd string but no one else can play well enough to win a game unless you are a starter. Everyone knows that.

The only thing that I'm worried about is our offensive line. Worst case scenario is that this week we're only going to be able to play 2 out of 5 starters. Now I know we challenged for depth in the offensive line, but it's starting to get rediculous. I hope we get Otah back this week.

Otah and Gross resumed practicing today, and Ruud and Galloway are questionable (Think Ruud will be out honestly)

Ruud will absolutely be playing, I think
