Gross out, Otah doubtful for Chiefs game
Panthers offensive tackle Jordan Gross, who suffered a concussion last week, won't play Sunday in Carolina's home game against the Kansas City Chiefs, coach John Fox said today.
Gross hadn't missed a start in 84 straight regular-season games, the second-longest streak in team history.
Another offensive tackle, rookie Jeff Otah, is doubtful for the Chiefs game. Otah sprained his right ankle against the Falcons.
Cornerback Ken Lucas (ankle) and receiver/returner Ryne Robinson (knee) are listed as questionable, although both practiced Friday.

Actually it's 84 straight regular season starts. He's started every game since Week 1 of his rookie year.
5 times 16= 80
plus 4 games so far this season
=84

Now guys, don't press the panic button yet. Remember it's the Chiefs. It's the pathetic sucko chiefs. Worst defense in the league, anyone remember that?
We'll still win, just run the ball up the middle!

Fixed, Will. Thanks!

This is really a concern. I have a bad feeling about this game.

So I guess the starting OL will be:
LT - Wharton
LG - Hangartner
C - Kalil
RG - Vincent
RT - Bridges (maybe Otah)
We could do worse, let's just hope that none of these guys get hurt. We may be in trouble then.

The Chiefs O-line doesn't really have any standouts. It could be a good week to give Frank Omiyale a shot at LT so at least there could be some continuity on the interior of the line and we could see what O's got.

I foresee the Panthers running early and often, probably around 40-45 carries. I would expect the coaching staff to take as few chances with Delhomme having two different guys on the corners protecting him, even though Smitty and Moose are rollin. Hopefully its a big day for JStew and DWilly. But, you never know, that's why they play the game.

Procton,
Why would the strength of the Chief's O-line determine who we start on our O-line? Just wanted to point that out since you seem to nit-pick on everyone else.

Stewarts return game is going to be good help for us this game. Maybe his first return TD, that would be nice! It is time special teams show their faces! Go Panthers! One game at a time. Finish the season how you started!
Go Beason and Rosario!

Who on earth came up with the headline "Gross out"??

Am I the only one going crazy over the fact that Peppers was fined $10,000 for his hit on Matt Ryan? Sure, he wipes his butt hole with 10k but thats not the point. It is ridiculous. ITS FOOTBALL, NOT BADMINTON! Yes, there are rules but that hit was not dirty at all

Procton, you fool. I hope you meant to say their "D-Line" isn't impressive. If not...wow. This is a new one for someone who routinely talks like a clueless clown.
Agree on the fine though. Pitiful. Hochuli should have been fined. It was shoulder to shoulder!

The shoulder of Peppers' facemask into the shoulder of Ryan's? Please. But we should give Pep a break. He doesn't actually get to the QB much lately. Fortunately, we didn't need those 7 points.

If we're going to have a game where our starting tackles have to sit one out, this game is probably the one to do it. The Chiefs are going to try and put pressure on Jake by coming around the edges. If we can get our running game going...and maybe load up with a few more two TE sets for extra run-blocking and protection on play-action passes, we should be alright.
Of course, knowing that Wharton and Bridges have experience as starters also helps. It'll be interesting to see if they use Wharton as the LT or go with Omiyale. If they use Omiyale at LT, Wharton could remain a blocking force at LG for the running game.
On the other side, I doubt Otah will see playing time at RT, so Bridges is probably a lock to start there. I expect he'll still dress though, and be an emergency backup if they need him. Otherwise, who else is available? Does Bernadeau get activated this week? Should be interesting to see who Fox chooses as his linemen for this game...both as starters and reserves.
My two-cents,

Seriously Procton,
Did we watch the same game?!! Peppers' shoulder hit Ryan's chest. Peppers' facemask did not make contact. Check the film joker.

MP & Spicer... great idea to start Omyalala at LT for continuity and getting a good push up the middle for the run game by keeping Wharton inside. This Chiefs team shouldn't be taken lightly, but why not take that kind of chance now (when you have the opportunity). If Frank Om does well, then that should help tip the scales with contract negations with the oversized injured elf. Brilliant!

From my earlier post on Gross---
LOL. You guys are a trip. You're right though, comments like the one I made are still horrible. By "holding out" I meant the ongoing contract negotiations that have been going on for a couple of years that have still not been resolved: hence the franchise tag designation.
Anyway, this guy has been a career drive killer (left or right side) with false start penalties; so I don't get all the hype. Sure he's incredibly athletic for his size and is versatile enough to do well on either side, but I still don't get all the publicity he gets.
Anyway, whether it's Stephen Davis (who is my favorite Panther all-time) or Kris Jenkins (who disgusts me), anyone who holds out or stall contract negotiations (Davis never did, BTW) should be shipped out.
This is a TEAM SPORT. No one player should be getting that much more than most on the roster. If you asked me, it's those contract extensions that ruined the D-line of 2003. They got complacent and walked around acting like royalty on the practice field. It was wretched. I'm glad almost all of them are gone. Just so happens that the last one, Poopers, is also "holding out."

Thats bull about the Peppers fine.. but lance briggs couldnt get at least a $5,000 fine

Actually if you watched the NFL official review you would see peppers helmet hitting ryan on the chin strap area in a uppercut type action.

Any word on if Otah practiced on Friday?
