Otah, Kalil, Hackett don't practice

Right tackle Jeff Otah and center Ryan Kalil were held out of practice Thursday, one day after practicing on a limited basis.

Coach John Fox wouldn't speculate on their status for Sunday's game against New Orleans, saying only that both had soreness in their sprained ankles and that team doctors felt it was best for them to rest.

Otah has missed two consecutive games and Kalil didn't play last week.

Wide receiver D.J. Hackett also didn't practice Thursday.

Returning to full participation were  linebacker Thomas Davis (ankle), wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad (knee) and linebacker Adam Seward (thigh).

The Saints have a Chiefs-esque defense, so I'm not as worried about our O-line issues this week. What IS concerning is Otah with another lingering ankle issue, just like the one that kept him out of practice almost all summer. All those missing draft picks REALLY look bad when this "road-grading stud" can't even get on the field.

At least we're not the Cowboys who have now given away picks 1, 3, 4, and 6 next year for a suspended player and a #2 WR.

Authority, you're not so much of an authority to know quite what you're talking about. The Cowboys get a 5th back because of Pacman's suspension (which could well end after the next four games and put him back in the starting lineup) and they also get a 7th back in the Williams trade.

As of right now, we gave up a 1, a 2, and a 4 for an inactive player who can't get on the field. Don't see how that does us any more good than the aquisition of Williams, who is good enough to take over as the #1 target in Dallas by next year and might just get TO cut outright.

Dwayne Jarrett!
Let the kid play!
Enough Said

FIREFOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, I'm a douchebag know-it-all. Forgot to mention that. And Authority, I failed to mention that everything you said in your statement was a fact. I just don't like someone challenging me.

Posted by: Michael Procton | Oct 16, 2008 2:33:11 PM

Procton, do you actually believe that Jerry Jones would cut TO outright? Not a chance in the world.

As far as Otah goes, we gave up our 1 this year for and extra 1 in last year's draft. Even trade their. We gained a 2, 2 years ago, by trading down for Beason. No harm done their either. Any time a team can get an OT that they belive is true starting quality in the NFL, they better jump all over it. And when he gets back on the field, he is worth the 4th round pick we gave up for him.

And why not, Terry? The guy is 34, and he'd be cut at a savings of more than $4 million after next season. Oh, and we alredy used that extra 2nd on none other than Dwayne Jarrett.

Can't stand the Cowboys, but on paper they made a great trade....it remains to be seen how well the egos mesh.

Go Saints! And if any of you haters out there that don't like me or the Saints, then you can kiss my butt!

all the receivers better have the gorilla grip on their gloves on Sunday, and springs on the cleates, I have a feeling Jakes going to have to start airing it out during the game, but hopefully we can control the clock and the ball with the running game, but we'll see.

Posted by: matt | Oct 16, 2008 3:03:03 PM

I agree let Dwayne Jarrett play!!!!!!

Enough with these two lazy ass linemen sitting on the sidelines. It's a sprained ankle; live with it. Otah has been sidelined for two weeks for god sakes, he's past the swelling and pain point get him on the field!

Great Comment!

FIREFOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Procton, TO like it or not is not going anywhere. Don't let facts get in the way of your argument. Why don't you go to a game once so you can actually know what the hell you spew.

Posted by: jeff | Oct 16, 2008 3:17:57 PM

Can we just cut our losses and RELEASE that Injury plagued HACKETT he obviously can not "hack it" in the NFL.

Also Mark Jones sucks at returning so let him go too

Release them two and let the WR we got from Wake Forest play instead. Perhapps the kid is the next Devin Hester.

Oh and Dwayne Jarrett needs more snaps as WR3 and JAKE needs to give him more looks. an "ok" jarrett is better than an Injured hackett.

Posted by: Panther Fan Dave | Oct 16, 2008 4:42:39 PM

Roy Williams, who I think is a decent player, couldn't keep his #1 WR spot over a second year receiver. So, authority was correct in that Dallas got a #2 receiver. He was #2 on the Lions and will be #2 on Dallas. If TO was to leave next year, then maybe they have a #1 receiver. However, I think Roy only has 1 season w/ more than a 1,000 receiving yards so he might be a borderline #1 anyways.

Procton,

How come I have posted essentially the same post concerning Pep's contract now 4 times and you have yet to respond?

All I know if our Offensive line better get to it...these injuries are gunna keep us out of the playoffs OTAH, KALIL better heal quick.

I wouldn't be confortable with any of you guys as coach of the Panthers except for N.Spicer, and he's long since left this comment board. Most of you are morons, and the rest of you are Panther fans.

Posted by: Revshawn | Oct 16, 2008 8:37:12 PM

Umm... J... That wasn't really Procton man... uhh... Just a note, it's best to just let him be anyway, you'll never win

Who are you idiots that keep asking that Dwayne Jarrett play? Did you see him in the last game? One ball that he dropped that my dog could have caught. He'll be in the soup line by the end of next year.
