Otah, Kalil still out
There appears to be only a slim chance the Carolina Panthers will have their starting offensive line intact for Sunday's game against New Orleans.
Right tackle Jeff Otah and center Ryan Kalil missed practice again Friday due to ankle sprains and are listed as doubtful on the injury report.
"You're always hopeful," said coach John Fox. "I still hold out a little hope, even at this point."
Both players practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, but were unable to do so after that.
If they don't play, Jeremy Bridges would start at right tackle and Geoff Hangartner at center.
Running back Jonathan Stewart was added to the injury report due to an illness. He's listed as questionable, but Fox expects him to play.
Wide receiver D.J. Hackett (sprained knee) was declared out for the second consecutive week and linebacker Adam Seward is questionable (thigh).
Linebacker Thomas Davis (ankle) and wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad (knee) are probable.

with the saints using a west coast offense and getting the ball out quickly do you think the coaches will tell peppers to stop running 10 yards past the QB?

while I am talking about them, Didnt Jeff Davidson say when he came here that he was going to find ways to get Steve the ball more????? Last year I understand but this year after the first two games they have not.

Hackett= weakling. And come on Otah, we used a first round pick on you. We can't have you miss half the season with a freaking ankle injury. I know putting these guys back on the field too early probably will just make it worse but come on already. If Otah and Kalil's ankle injuries are really this bad, we might as well put them on the shelf until after the bye week then. No practice, no nothing.

The Panthers seem to have a lot of injuries. I know all teams have them but I am really beginning to question the Panthers strength and conditioning coach. We have a lot of ankle sprains and a lot of knee injuries. Maybe we need to pack the S&C coach up with Special teams coach Danny Crossman and send them somewhere else. Fox, however, seems to be content with being mediocre so nothing will change.

Yeah, Kevin. Mediocre enough to take this team farther than it's ever been and to put us in the top 10 among NFL records since he arrived. Good call, chief.

What I really wonder is if Fox will let us play physical with the receivers. I don't want to play 10 yards off so they can always get a quick slant. I want to punch them in the mouth and disrupt the timing.

Good point about strength & conditioning, Kevin... but then you went off on a tangent and used bridge to nowhere reasoning about Fox and his alleged complacency. You are about as logical as a woman, "kevin." I mean that was absolutely brilliant! Fox wants to be mediocre. Of course!!! How could I have overlooked that. Wow! LoL.

Put these two back on the dang field!!!! Ankle sprains mean nothing to linemen.... They are bad on qbs, rbs and wrs because they have to run, and cut. Linemen stand there and freaking block... give them a cortisone shot and get the moving... they need to work it, and soak in freaking saltwater rather than sitting on their butts and picking their noses.

Yeah Kevin, brilliant. Even better, blaming the strenght and conditioning coaches for ankle injuries. You are so right..maybe they should work on their "ankle muscles" some more. You know, like all those other teams in the league that avoid ankle injuries because their coaches have them doing tons of ankle lifts and ankle presses, unlike our stupid coaches.

Come on...complaining about injuries and not playing because of them, that's mature! It's a physical game and injuries will occur and are random. Anyone who has played football at any level knows that. Will you blame Fox if it rains on Sunday! Some of you look for ANY reasons to bash the coaches.
My question is should the NFL allow more players on the active roster to compensate for injuries?

What the heck does a strength and conditioning coach have to do with ankle sprains???
You guys would be better off questioning the training staff about taping and bracing ankles properly.
What I want to complain about is coddling players with minor injuries to the point that they don't play for several games. Maybe Brett Favre should give Otah and Kalil a call like he did Romo in Dallas.

So the Strength coach is responsible for ankle injuries? Is he supposed to stand on the field and when an ankle is in an akward position throw a brace on it before it twists? Honestly fans, I think I have heard it all now.
Good point from the guy who reminded us that Davidson said he would find all kinds of ways to get smitty the ball. I guess we are all still waiting on that to happen...

Hackett got hurt just running down the field by himself and has now been out two straight weeks... WTF?!?! That like saying I got a paper cut on the job and will need 2 weeks off paid vacation. What a pimp... Obviously the Hackett experiment is not gonna hack it.

I wonder not about S&C, but the training staff. All these high ankle sprains suggest improper taping. The Pantherw were hit with a rash of these in yesrs past, but they seemed to go away for a few years, now, the high ankle sprain is back. Since both h.a.s. are offensive linemen, the same guy probably did the taping on both guys.

Put me in there! I can do a better job than Otah and Kalil on any given Sunday!

Procton, do you even read the blogs that are written on this site? The only comments that you ever leave are to berate other posters. You suck.

We cant get the ball to steve cause we so stuck on running the ball. i know he dropped a wide open pass, but still. using him in that lame two receiver i-formation wont work all game. i mean we the only team who constantly run that throwing play. better in a single or shotgun formation with 3-4 receivers. but we dont do that

Why is it every team we play seems to be full strength, but we are always dinged up? Talk about bad luck! And for Otah and Kalil to miss two games because of an ankle sprain seems rather odd! Shockey only missed three weeks with a freakin' sports hernia and Colston will be playing with a splint. Why are our guys such p*ssies!?! Oh and guess who's looking to return next week for the Cardinals.........BOLDEN! Just in time to play the Panthers. I know people will always say they want to play a teams best players, but when three of our offensive starters are shelved, that doesn't make it a true test! Our defense is going to have to have their best game of the year to even have a shot at winning this game. Saints getting 3 points!?! Take the Saints plus 3 all day baby.........and I'm a die-hard Panthers fan!

Before the season started, if you had said, that the Panthers would be (4-2) after 6 games.. Everyone on this blog, would have asked, what you were smoking.!!! They played (4) playoff teams (according to all of the publications out there) and two bad teams.. Then if you told everyone then, that you would be without Steve Smith on top of that, against two of these playoff teams, you would have said, "2-4"... at best...!! Here we are at 4-2, beat two of the best teams in Football, and everyone is crying, like little babies that we suck..!!! Please people, either get off the Bandwagon, or cheer for them this weekend.. Make a decision, other then what color jersey to wear to the Game...!!!

OK
Kevin said ankle and KNEE Injuries, their are tendons in the ankle or do they Work themselves!
DB's-- NO!
jOHN-- No because Fox will Golf Clap and Chew, The Rain away!
Authority-- Agree 100%
Bottom Line
Anyone who has played Ball knows there is one guy every game or Practice that gets hurt, sometimes both. Rahgib Ismail in the 90's is one, Dan Morgan is another, Hackett etc. Alot of times these guys obviously don't make it to the NFL for the obvious reason. Otah maybe one of those guys, an ankle injury has probably plagued half the League. Monitor him and get what you can if it happens tooo Much. Don't let him(Otah) be a Morgan..
Finally
TOOOOO Much Postive can be a Negative! John Fox Ran Off The Field Laughing, then a smile on his face Sunday at Halftime(you kidding me!). Are you Serious. If you are ok with this you didn't play ball and if so you lost! It is your responsiblity to do your Job as a player! Block, catch, tackle, Whatever your assignment is. AND you don't do it.. You are getting PAID to do your Assignment/JOB.. Do you think Richardson was Laughing, with a smile on his face. Lets say we Screw up on our job again and again and again. Do we get called into the office/lockerroom to get a, "Hey Its ok You Were Really Trying, we'll get'em next time(for the 3rd time)!" NO!! YOU ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!!!! Fox is a good Assitant Coach and that is it..
And for all the analytical freaks out there don't pick apart each posters comments, we can all read above an 8th grade level. So we can GATHER the message the other person is trying too convey!

Chris Harris on 610 AM the other day, was asked if anyone really gets in Their Face on The Coaching Staff. He said, "Not really."

PANTHERS NEED TO STAY HEALTHY- THIS DON'T MAKE ANY SENSE! IT SEEMS LIKE EVERY WEEK, SOMEONE GETS HURT- WHY?- THEY'RE NOTHING DIFFERENT FROM DAN MORGAN, WHO SAT OUT FOR THE 2006 AND 2007 SEASON. THIS IS A SUPER BOWL CALIBER TEAM AND IT'S TIME FOR THEM TO START PLAYING LIKE IT. RECEIVERS AND TIGHT ENDS NEED TO GET OPEN AND CATCH THE BALL-BASICALLY, THE WHOLE OFFENSE NEEDS TO STEP UP- WE CAN BEAT THE HARD TEAMS, BUT NOT THE EASY ONES- COME ON CAROLINA, LETS GO!!!
