Any word on the seriousness of Moose's injury?

Posted by: Antmanc | Oct 12, 2008 4:32:38 PM

Anyone else think that after the third quarter, Fox should have put McCown in? Also, so many dropped passes... Smitty was disappointing, Jarret was invisible, Peppers wasn't even trying, Delhomme was panicked, and the O-Line didn't even block. The secondary was nowhere near the ball carrier when Garcia threw it, and the D Line and Linebackers failed miserably against the run.

If Richardson does not call in the special teams coach and fire hi on Monday, i will have lost all respect for him.

Posted by: david | Oct 12, 2008 4:47:38 PM

Also, who was responsible for that blocked Punt? If its Goings again, then he needs to go...

Posted by: WRAPPEDinBACON | Oct 12, 2008 4:48:00 PM

Relax folks. There is still plenty of football left to play this season. I've called for Jake to sling that rock the last couple of weeks... I now regret doing so. In retrospect, field goals instead of INT's would have been great.

Maybe Jake should have stopped to take a smoke after each snap, take a good look at how the play is getting developed, decide on what he's going to do next and then throw the ball (he had plenty of time to do it, which was one of the high points of today's game).

Q: How many sacks, hurries or hits did the Bucs get on Jake today? Did anybody other than Gross get a false start (or an OL penalty of any kind)?

Posted by: Keeping It Real | Oct 12, 2008 4:50:20 PM

It is hard to figure out if it is Baker who can't figure out how to get a punt off or the crappy blocking schemes. This was absolutely embarrassing! That killed us!

Hey John: When you have 9 seconds, 2 time outs, and are getting your a$$ kicked, why didn't you try to run a play to get into field goal range at the end of the 1st? Oh yhea! I forgot. No b@lls.

Lastly, when can we get ourselves a returner?!?

I would have to put this game as one of the ULTIMATE lack of "heart" games I've ever witnessed during Carolina's NFL history. Seriously, a game dubbed as perhaps the "most important" game of the NFC South battle for the crown, we come out and totally stink it up. I can understand a loss of 3 to 10 points and say we played hard and Tampa just played better, but in all honesty, we didn't even show up and might as well have just hung the helmets.

We were lucky to lose by 27-3...this game should have been 41-0 based on our play alone. For those who say Jake doesn't deserve any blame, Bull$hit. I don't care his 3 INTs were tipped, he didn't show ANY fire and most of the time just didn't seem like he wanted to be there. Same goes for everyone else on the team, including the coaching staff. The team better get it together for NO, or this 4-1 WILL be a fluke and we'll end up going 7-9 again!

Posted by: Kenneth | Oct 12, 2008 4:52:37 PM

Roasario was responsible for blocked punt. The entire team was responsible for a poor effort. Next week will be a test of character.

Posted by: gs | Oct 12, 2008 4:52:48 PM

This is exactly why we should have fired Fox after last season - we have beaten up on bad teams and lose when it counts. The playcalling today was rotten, we didnt go for it at all and tried to run it up the middle time and time again. Our coaches let us down and they displayed their ignorance to the entire league much to our embarrassment. We still cannot win the games that count under Fox.

Posted by: Ben | Oct 12, 2008 4:53:00 PM

It was Rosario. The whole team sucked not just ST, for once. I guess they spewed all they had at KC. What a friggin' waste. All the Carolina fans who paid money to watch that crap should get a refund. That's on Direct TV and live. The panthers just took one of their two bye weeks (this one counted against us though) HORRIBLE effort!

Posted by: dan | Oct 12, 2008 4:53:28 PM

Unfortunately it was Rosario -- who needs to be playing more on offense but he apparently just cannot think on the field. He leads the world in False starts and now today's royal messup. But we don't seem to have a significant last defense blocker on punts. It's coaching!!

Posted by: david | Oct 12, 2008 4:57:21 PM

In other words, they should have just stayed home and rested so we could get the injuries under control for NO. Someone asked let's see what we can do with NO....I am not looking forward to that after today. I AM TOTALLY EMBARASSED AND ASHAMED OF THE PANTHERS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE.

Posted by: dan | Oct 12, 2008 4:58:31 PM

Do you think we should use this game as a reason for some trades? I say trade Jeff Davidson and 2010's first and second round picks for Jason Garret, and the rest of our 09 draft picks for Jim Johnson.

Posted by: capfolly | Oct 12, 2008 4:58:44 PM

Yeah Fox just does not understand the game once a game gets underway. Just running 3 times into the line and punting when we clearly needed a game-changer. Ok we may have thrown a pick but if we don't try to turn the tide on that possession, it's over. I guarantee you this team will NOT come out and play like that in this crucial of a game under COACH COWHER NEXT YEAR

Posted by: david | Oct 12, 2008 5:03:09 PM

Welcome to your Carolina PATHETICS! That has got to be the worst showing I have ever witnessed. TAMPA BAY IS NOT THAT GOOD TO HAVE MADE US LOOK THAT SILLY. WE DID NOT SHOW UP TODAY. Yes, I meant to type all caps because I am yelling. That game and showing was total BULL SH!T. There better be a lot of yelling going on in the locker room after that performance. I have never felt this embarassed and strongly over a Panther loss!

Posted by: Wade | Oct 12, 2008 5:04:19 PM

Keeping it Real is on point regrding 9 secs left in half and taking a knee. This team is notorious for leaving timeouts on the board. Risk/reward on going for a quick completion and FG attempt would have given them a chance to go into locker room at half with a little momentum and something to build on. On the other hand, TB proboably would have returned an INT for a TD, the way this game was going. Still, no excuse for going into halftime with your tail between your legs.

Hope players remember this ass whippin' when TB comes to Carolina for MNF.

Ben they all count... Where were you when the Panthers were winning, and where will you be when they are doing it again?? Wherever that is, how about staying there.

Posted by: Keeping It Real | Oct 12, 2008 5:17:15 PM

DO YOU THINK they should should have someone doing the play calling, seems to me they need some tips on that stuff?

Posted by: paul | Oct 12, 2008 5:19:23 PM

gs... yer right. I also hope the fans at ol' Erikson Stadium support this team like they have been when they host the Saints.

Posted by: Keeping It Real | Oct 12, 2008 5:19:31 PM

So please tell me Danny Crossman has been fired? It's getting a little old having a punt blocked every game now. Not saying it's the reason we lost (FAR from it), but it deflates the entire team to be down 7-0 30 seconds into the game. Special teams has been horrendous overall for a while now, it's long past time for Crossman to go. His special teams is an eyesore on this otherwise, usually, solid football team.

Posted by: Special Teams Suck | Oct 12, 2008 5:24:54 PM

Gotta come to Ben's defense on this one. When every facet of the game is awful, you have to look at the man at the top. This dramatically lessened our chances for making the playoffs. Fox is a poor coach who cannot seem to keep a team playing in games that count. To keep doing the same thing on punts. Pitiful. Ok to get beat by a hot offense, but to not make a credible effort in one of the biggest games of the year is just awful. We need some major shakeups and we should start with the special teams coach to show that this lack of effort will not be tolerated.

Posted by: david | Oct 12, 2008 5:24:57 PM

The Cats totally failed to show up for today's game. These type of games seem to crop up once in a while with this team... It seems that every time the Cats begin to gain a little bit of respect from the national sports media, they go out the next game and lay an egg. I admire and respect coach Fox, and I believe he needs to be the coach of this team for many years to come. However, I do fault the coaching staff for again allowing the team to believe that they're so good that all they have to do is dress out for the game in order to win. Perhaps this kick in the teeth will bring this team back to it's senses.

Why is our offense so stagnant

Man I miss Henning. I miss screens, Rb and Wr screens

Why is their lack of Rb running flats or catching it across the middle

Why dont we utilize all of our Wr. instead of just Smith and Mushin

Why hasnt Smith had a 100 yard game yet or above 8 catches in 1 game yet

Why we only use Shotgun formation 3rd and long

Passing offense sucks. Dont speak to me bout jake did this. fact is against 3 good defenses, the passing offense hasnt done nothing. 2 out of the 3 has been losses

our offense needs to OPEN up. look around man at other teams

Well reading from the comment board, you can tell which fans are true panther fans and the other bandwagon fans from 2003. Look this game was a game that the panthers had lost before coming in and here are some factors:

-They came off a shut out, against a bad team

- They won 4 straight games at that stadium.

-The Bucks came of a hard fought loss.

- Garcia, came back. (Fox seems to struggle with this QB) He is a mobile QB, and he continues to find the weak spots of the Panthers teams, no matter what team he is on.

-The Media keeps bring up the 5 straight wins we had on them 2 years ago. (They beat us at Home last year, Carr was our QB).

These are not excuses, they played poorly because the ball was not bouncing there way. This is there first game of the season were they did not create a Turnover, and Lost.

Also I think this loss brings them back to earth, and they will get that fire back.

Next week they are playing at home, and thus we will be given an incentive to play to win. If the cats are serious then they will land on there feet. And bounce back.

One game does not make a season. Please don't injure yourself jumping from the wagon and don't bother jumping on next week when they beat the Aint's. Try and contribute something more than calling for firings when it's up to the players to execute. Roasario clearly missed his assignment and the rest of the team did little more than show up.

"This dramatically lessened our chance for making the playoffs.....". Are you kidding me? You would have gladly taken 4-2, tied for 1st at this point if offered before 1st game.

You guys aren't fans, just critics.

Now, go do something productive and root for the Cardinals to beat South America's Team.
