DeAngelo & J-Stew sneak preview

We'll have a story on the Panthers' backfield tandem of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart in tomorrow's paper and online, so be sure to check it out.

But here's a sneak preview with information not in the story that's exclusive to this blog:

Williams on his favorite Stewart play so far: "It would have to be in the preseason, when he tightlined the sidelines for a touchdown in the Redskins' game. He looked like he was going to fall, then it looked like he was going to trip over his feet and then he gave it a stamp of approval at the end. He did a whole bunch of stuff on that one play!"

Stewart on his favorite Williams play so far: "I'd say the Raiders game when things weren't going right and all of a sudden he breaks off that long (touchdown) run. There was a lot of individual effort on that play, especially the wisdom to look at the (stadium video) screen. I wouldn't have thought about that."

Though the NFL has had quite a few outstanding running back tandems on the same team, Williams and Stewart say their favorite backfield duos were in college football.

Williams: "Marion Barber and Laurence Maroney both rushed for 1,000 yards at Minnesota in one year."

Stewart: "I'm a West Coast guy, so LenDale White and Reggie Bush" at Southern Cal.

There will be much more of this type of thing in the story, plus details about the friendship that has developed between Williams and Stewart. Be sure to check it out!

Off the subject but they fined Beason!?!! I knew that was coming. They make Lance Briggs poster boy of the NFL and they fine Beason. I bet anything that if Bruce Smith were still playing and twisted Delhomme's helmet backwards he still wouldn't get fined (or even a penalty). This good PR to enhance the bottom line so let's let the marquee names get away with anything and dump on the rest BS has really got to go! I am really getting sick of these walking suits...

Back to the story... What did Stewart mean by "especially the wisdom to look at the (stadium video) screen."

Williams watched the stadium's screen, and used it to elude a would-be tackler in the Raider's game.

I just have to ask. SYRPIS why did u change your name to "keeping
It real"

Posted by: jb | Nov 22, 2008 7:05:22 PM

Because I prefer it. Why did you choose "JB"? I've been thinking about changing it to "It Is What It Is" instead. I'm sure some of you would love that one.

Looks like you prefer the "don't ask don't tell" as you obviously use. So just keep your ridiculous comments coming. Get a sentence together and then we'll talk.

"JB" the feeling is mutual.

Except one thing, I don't go seeking you out like you do me. You are not queer, are you?

JB,

Remember the old adage...."don't wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig likes it." KIR, SYPRIS, and who knows what other aliases he/she uses is obviously a loser and cry baby. You are wasting your time unfortunately trying to educate, inform, and make this douche bag boy see what everyone else on here sees.

Is everyone ready for 9-2! The dirty birds will not have anything for us. CAR 24 ATL 16
