Fox: Kalil didn't re-injure ankle

Panthers coach John Fox said during his weekly Monday news conference that center Ryan Kalil didn't reinjure his ankle in the first quarter of Sunday's 17-6 win at Oakland, but rather realized the ankle had not healed enough to get the kind of push the team desired against the Raiders' athletic defensive front.

Kalil was taken out of the lineup late in the first quarter and replaced by Geoff Hangartner, who started the previous three games while Kalil was nursing a sprained ankle.

Fox said he has no idea whether Kalil will be able to play this weekend against Detroit. Kalil remains "day to day."

I hope he can back in there. He really seems to be a solid center, no offense Hangartner. There is no way that it hurts more then Brian Baldinger's pinky.

Let him rest another week. Hangartner fills in nicely. Baldy's pinky gives me nightmares. Surely to goodness they could do surgery on that thing.
