Postgame questions answered

Where are all the fans??? Once again, the stadium had many, many, many empty seats. This has been a good season to go to the home games and see a good team win football games. Why do people still not show up? -- RK

RK: Don’t know why they’re not showing up, especially with a first-place team that’s unbeaten at home. – David

What is your opinion of Baker's punting this season? I'm really worried that his poor play might end up being our undoing in the playoffs. Should Fox consider bringing someone in to give Baker reason to start stepping it up? -- K

K: Don’t take too much from Sunday, because there was a lot of wind. Baker’s averaging 44.7 yards (38.2 net), both solid numbers for an NFL punter. He might be in the upper-echelon of NFL punters, but there’s no reason to consider replacing him – especially in the middle of the season. -- David

I was reading a recap of the game and the article said Hanson's FG was wind aided. It looked to me like that kick would've been good from over 60 yards. I was just wondering how much the wind affected it? Wind aided or not, still impressive that a 38 year old kicker can do that. – TheCaptain19

The Captain: It was definitely wind aided. There was a pretty good right-to-left breeze (from my viewpoint) all day. -- David

How could anybody complain about Baker? He's got one of the best I20:TB ratios in the league. He pins opponents deep with regularity (his 20 I20s are 3rd in the league), and he's allowing one of the best PR averages against in the league (4.9.)

WILL we make the playoffs? I mean 3-4 wins will get us in. But 4 wins will give us a bye in the playoffs which would be really good??????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im starting to worry about Jake and our pass offense.

Posted by: paul | Nov 16, 2008 8:19:08 PM

Proctie it's strange how the refs on the play we are discussing did not throw a flag, and yet you continue to be smarter than the refs.

I think all of the receivers are getting tired of putting their bodies and careers on the line when they must just 10 feet or twist a hip out of place in order to give jake bojangle a completion.

Yes Brett is doing terrible with his team that he signed with what 3 months ago. I think he is doing great in comparision to Fumbleloome. Jake has been with his team what 5 years.

Brett is allowed to pass in the second half of a game. His coaches are not afraid to let him be a qb and not a hand off guy.

Jason are you serious right now go sit down in the corner somewhere and bang your head against the wall. Why in the heII would we throw the ball when we were running the ball at will. I can't stand football morons. Think about it for a min Jake completed 10 out of 19 passes with 1 td and no int. He had 3 or 4 dropped balls that should have been 1st downs and some of the recievers running the wrong route. Jakes best performance no not by a long shot but worst cmon and on top of it he is the best QB we have whom do you suggest we put in. Your a complete moron and for once procton I agree with you about something. Jake is this team right now without him we are not sitting on top of the NFC South. So like I said go back and try to learn what it is to be a true fan you moron.

Paul we do not have a pass offense.
Jake is worse than he was before his surgery.
The OC has lost confidence in him.
Jake had a 12 rating last week.
He did not complete a pass in the second half.
He looked as bad today with out the 4 interceptions.
We are in trouble with him at hand off man

Posted by: jason | Nov 16, 2008 8:30:36 PM

Don I am a true fan.
I have made the same comments over the years as you are now.
I have stopped drinking jake's kool-aid and started being objective this year.
We have a serious problem with Jake at QB.

You make it sound like the receivers drop jake's passes on purpose. The guy can not hit the side of a barn.
We are going to have to start drafting guys from the NBA in order to have anyone tall enough to catch his passes.

You and procton go sit in the corner and make out.

If your a true fan then whom do you think should be at the helm. Explain to me then why was he so awesome against the cards, atlanta,kc,saints, chargers, bears and the other wins (besides oakland). He didnt do a decent job today cmon man what game were you watching. He played well enough to get us a win.

It just amazes me that you can sit here and say what your saying when 3 wks ago he was doing incredible and then he has 1 bad game and this game is so so mostly because we were running the heII out of the ball. he only threw 19 passes. I only seen a couple that were bad really but a lof of drops no not on purpose im sure but is that his fault that they dropped those passes? Give me a break man you all had you chance when jake was down last year and you saw how well that turned out for us.

Okay enough of the bickering lets say next week we play atlanta and lets say he carves them up and just puts out just a really good performance. Then I'm assuming you won't be back on the board saying anything because well you foot will probally be in your mouth.

Hey Jason...the NFL seemed to think it was a dirty hit: http://community.heraldonline.com/muhammad_hit_fine_worthy

And you're totally right. Teams in the lead shouldn't run the ball and keep the clock rolling, particularly if they're running at 8 yards a clip.

As for Davidson, he certainly seemed to have confidence in Delhomme just two games ago against Arizona. I seem to remember he brought us back from a 2-TD deficit.

If it hits you in the hands, you must catch it. Smith and Muhammad have both specifically asked for passes to be placed where only they can get it, because they trust themselves to get it. If they don't, it doesnt' make it Jake's fault.

Posted by: Michael Procton | Nov 16, 2008 8:54:56 PM

Go ahead Procton. Jason is one of those guys that just think that if we don't draft a QB the is the next manning that he sucks not matter what Jake does. Jakes haters shut up and don't say much of anything when he does well or even great. But as soon as he does bad or just so so its lets tar and feather him and put someone like Josh McCown in whom has bounced around the league his entire career cause he sucks. Yeah people like Jason have no football sense.

Last year without me we were 7-9...what's our record now??? I dunno maybe it's me

Posted by: Jake D. | Nov 16, 2008 9:04:42 PM

In reality jake's a go qb for carolina. Now on the other hand if u got him in your fantasy league i can see why you hate him so much.

Posted by: Zack W. | Nov 16, 2008 9:08:11 PM

jason there is nothing wrong with don and proc, you're the only idiot in here.I hear ya with the low qb rating last week, but the week before he threw for 300 yards. get you some of that you freak.

Good one Jake D.

By the way can I get your Autograph?

Posted by: Don | Nov 16, 2008 9:09:07 PM

hey guys, did you notice how bad it messed with detroits defense when we finally threw one screen pass and ran one reverse?

Posted by: stork302 | Nov 16, 2008 9:14:16 PM

Dude, Tickets are ridiculous, if you want the seats to be completely full, dont let scalpers get them for the game and then try to sell them to me for x3 the amount they are worth, screw that the people that show up already pay enough through PSL's and crap, thats why the fans dont show up, because they dont keep a lock on their tickets as they should, if that was the case, every seat would have been full, im sorry im not gonna pay $120 to be in the UPPER LEVEL of the stadium to watch the Lions play against my Panthers.

Posted by: Tickets are Expensive | Nov 16, 2008 9:19:16 PM

Jake Delhomme is Comeback Player of the year, at least he should get it, anyone who thinks Delhomme isnt the answer to our team at least for the IMMEDIATE future, is crazy and just plain stupid.

Posted by: Comeback Player of the Year | Nov 16, 2008 9:42:55 PM

Dude,

Tickets are inexpensive. Check them out on EBAY. You can get seats in the upper level for below face value and even some tickets in the lower level for below face as well. How do I know? I moved to NJ several years ago and try to sell my seats on EBAY. Wasn't able to sell them the past two weeks. Only listing for $10 over face to cover EBAY fees and shipping and received no bids...not a one. Tickets for two between the 30 yard lines are face value of $61 apiece or $122? Is it okay for me to pay that much but not charge that much?

Seems to me that people here want a bargain for tickets. Me, I'd rather give them to a friend or family member for free and eat the full cost than give a stranger a bargain. You say the PSL holders are fairweather fans, I smell fairweather moreso from the non-psl fans that complain about tickets prices. When we went 1 and 15 I couldn't sell to any of the die-hards that continue to post on these board. When we were a hot ticket, I'll admit, I sell to the highest bidder. Seems logical to me when I have to eat my tickets during a bad year.

Take the glasses off and look at it from a PSL holders point of view.

Posted by: Tickets are not expensive | Nov 16, 2008 10:10:51 PM

OK, then wait until 1:20, when you can get in for less than half that and still watch the last 45+ minutes of the game.

And not really, stork. We ran a reverse a few weeks back that went for -6, and the screen to Stewart gained us, what, four yards?

Posted by: Michael Procton | Nov 16, 2008 10:12:37 PM

yeah steve smith asked jake to throw a pass to him in San Diego so high that when he came down on his stomach it knocked the air out of him.

The tightends ask for the ball to be behind them so they can only tip at the ball.

Atlanta will send Jake to the bench next week. JOHN ABRAHAM

Bring on Mr. Matt Moore, give him the healthy starters now instead of the subs we had last year and you will see someone who can throw an accurate pass.

Posted by: jason | Nov 16, 2008 10:26:02 PM

I'm curious--was that Steve Smith asking Jake to throw a pass to him in San Diego this year? The reason I'm asking is Steve Smith was suspended for that game, and I was wondering when this happened?

Posted by: Charles Futrell | Nov 16, 2008 10:34:42 PM

This is what Fox wants. Run the ball, run the ball, run it again, and then a short pass to set up another run. It works. The defense is playing good ball every week. We should be pleased, Fox is pleased, we're on our way to the Super Bowl. Buy a program if you can't get with it, haha.

Posted by: BigMikey | Nov 16, 2008 10:58:08 PM

MATT MOORE??? "An accurate pass"??? PLEASE! Moore didn't complete an accurate downfield pass all season.

Charles, don't worry about jason's inaccuracies. He's clearly not playing with a full deck.

Posted by: Michael Procton | Nov 16, 2008 11:29:39 PM

High prices for tickets?? Are you kidding me? I have not paid more than $70 a ticket this year and I always sit in the Club Level. You just have to wait till right at or right after kick off. Scalpers are begging you to buy them.

Posted by: Ticket Master | Nov 17, 2008 12:12:58 AM

24-22 the players need the 12th man and we are doing the stinking wave. Folks the wave went away in the 80's are we the only stadium that does it. WE are 8-2 and we still have alot of minor league fans
