Happy holidays: December is Panthers' best month

The Panthers face their toughest stretch of the season over the final four games. And they all come in  December, historically a month that they've played better in than any other.

Carolina's 13-year record of 30-24 in December is easily the best of the four months (they played one game in August in 1997) NFL teams play regular-season games.

Here's how the other three months stack up, this season included:

September: 22-24

October: 25-33

November: 27-30

Under coach John Fox, the Panthers are even better in December: 17-10 since 2002.

As the Panthers go after an NFC South title and playoff spot, they face four teams in December with a combined record of 33-15. That's a rugged stretch, but it comes at a time of year when the Panthers have typically played well. -- David Scott

Charlotte better be freaking loud!!

I live in KC and the fans here get more into panther games... and they aren't even panther fans!

Prove me wrong Monday Night!

December is what separates the men from the boys. Carolina has come far and has been working toward this chance for 3 years now. I don't think they are going to let the likes of Tampa Gay or the Aints take that away at this point in time. You'll see the heat turned up on MNF and the fire, determination, and purpose of Carolina will come blasting out of the TV. Make sure your recorders are working, it will be one of the games to remember for a long time...right up there with the win over the Rams for the NFC Championship. I can't wait.

It's going to be fun to watch. This week, Brayton will have to find a way to get a tackle in the backfield (as much time as he spends back there); especially with Garcia back there. Stewart will also have to have the game of his life, breaking tackles and making defenders pay (instead of the other way around). I hope those cramps last week are just an incident and not a sign that he is hitting that rookie wall. It would be a real bad time for that to happen. Finally, ALL OFFENSIVE PLAYERS will have to make the catches and hang onto the ball this week against this unyielding and ruthless defense. If those three things happen, the Panthers are sure to win.

BTW, Brayton is great against the run and does get tackles for a los there, but QB's seem to have some kind of invisible forcefield when it comes to him getting a sack. It was great to see him hustle last week at full speed but Rodgers will still able to get away and Peppers still somehow got credit for the sack: even though all he did was give them good field position with a bone-headed & vicious tackle when the QB was already out of bounds. There is that forced fumble/sack that he also didn't get credit for a few games ago but, other than that, what are his stats on sacks and tackles for a loss? ....Procton?

The Sissy Panthers are going to get waxed while their fans sit around drinking thier wine and cheese...
P.S. Gus you are quite the sissy yourself calling Tampa Bay Tampa Gay...That description fits Charlotte and its fans than Tampa Bay!

Posted by: JC | Dec 3, 2008 2:41:11 PM

agreed! Stewart got cramps cuz it was his first carry of the game and he didnt warm up enough. he probably wasnt expecting to go 54 yards

As fans, we cannot control what the players do, but we can affect the outcome of the game. People need to show up and make some noise. If you are going with your Aunt or Grandma, you need to school them before you get to the stadium. Everybody needs to make some racket, young or old. Bring cowbells, airhorns, whistles,kazoos...whatever you've got! This is our house and the Buc stops here!

not all panthers fans are wine and cheesers.

I will be there and I will be loud!

Lets just hope that Fox and Davidson and Trog can out game plan Gruden. Its seems that lately we have not been the aggressors and have been out played and coached. I hope that trend can end Monday and we can come out blitzing, hiting Garcia on every pass play and getting our guys to catch the ball.

The Panthers need to incorporate more of those quick passes (Slants, Crossing Routes) and spread the Tampa Bay Defense out with 3 and 4 wides so that we can Run the ball up the middle and down their throat.

On D we need to again get pressure on Garcia and play some bump and run to get the wide recievers off of their routes. That way Garcia holds onto the ball more and we Hit him HARD!!

Go Panthers! Make this December a memorable one!! Panthers Win Divison would be a nice Christmas Present!!

i will be loud.

Everybody (players and fans and coaches) should just go out there and have fun. Heck, have a few drinks and act a fool if you feel like it. Bright lights, national TV, playoffs on the line, being the under dog even at home. Be loose. Be free spirited. Be young at heart. It just don't ever get any better than this. Enjoy it. Relish in it. Soak it all up and play and cheer and yell "HOT DAM HERE I AM" and make noises so loud that the whole world knows Charlotte and the Panthers are alive, and proud, and in your face. Come on and get some of this if you dare.

What has happened in previous Decembers means absolutely zilch! BTW - JC is an abject moron. The Tampon Bay Bunchaqueers will be the team that gets waxed!

Clean up your language, all of you. Are you so dumb that you can't make a complete sentence without putting in some derogatory comments? Anybody can write that stuff - it takes brains to put together a legitimate comment. I guess we know what you're short on.

Hey Keeping It Real, I agree with you on all points but one: that hit by Peppers on Rogers was not boneheaded. It was vicious, yes, and it was technically a late hit so the penalty was justified, but Pep had somegood things to say about why he did it. Earlier in the Game, when Rogers ran the ball, he faked as if he were heading out of bounds, which caused our guys to back off. Rogers then stayed in bounds and ran for another five yards. pep wasn't gonna let that happen again. And I say more power to him. keep the hits coming!

Mark this down.. The way you beat the cover 2 is to hit the tight ends and running backs in the seams over the middle. SO Our running backs could have a big game Catching the ball.

"HEY"! Now you look here Linda. You mind your own DAM business. This is football, and we're fans and we've waited a he11 of a long time for this and we ain't gonna listen to no GOD DA*N English teacher that preaches on Sunday and tries to hang out wif da boys when we gots playoffs at steak hir. So go take a flying leap.
