Jason Carter back with Panthers

Restricted free-agent receiver Jason Carter, who missed last season with a knee injury, has re-signed with the Panthers, agent Drew Pittman said Tuesday. Pittman wouldn't confirm the terms of the deal, but it's likely a one-year contract.

Carter, who wasn't drafted in 2006 after playing at Texas A&M, was playing well in the Panthers' 2008 preseason before injuring his knee. With Mark Jones gone to the Tennesee Titans, Carter should compete for punt and kick return duties with the Panthers, as well as the No. 3 receiver's spot. -- David Scott

What's the deal with Ryne Robinson??

Posted by: Justin | Apr 7, 2009 11:02:31 AM

He was really impressive in training camp last year

Posted by: Derrick | Apr 7, 2009 11:10:39 AM

He is small and not as fast as most people thought

Seriously, a lot of anxiety would be eased if the title was changed to "Jason Carter back with the Panthers".

yeah this headline scared me too...I have been wondering what the deal was with him, i think this will be a big pick up if he is healthy!

Clarence Carter, Clarence Carter, Clarence Carter, Clarence Carter....

Nice move!!
With Jason on the team we have a good WR corp and also add one guy for fight with Robinson, Decori and Moore for the KR and PR.

Robinson was developing as both a receiver and returner in his rookie year after an incredibly productive college career, but he got held back by a nagging knee injury. He should be back and ready to take back his return jobs and a few grabs in the passing game.

What about Taye Biddle, he had amazing preseason on 2007.

Posted by: Rock | Apr 7, 2009 1:13:59 PM

Biddle's with the Giants, but is actually recovering from a shooting in late January. Either way, he's not a 53-man player.

Ah yes, the son of Jimmy Carter.

SWEET, LOOKED GOOD EARLY IN THE PRESEASON

I think that our Ofense is nice, but we need to improve the Defense!! in other forums I said that in my opinion we need to trade Peppers for Denfensive player(s) and/or round pick(s) for example:
Trade Pepp for Aaron Kapmann and round pick and trade Jake for other Defensive player DL and is it possible for round pick.
With this movements we reduce the salary cap and we can add more defensive players DT, DE, CB in free agency and in the darft we need to pick also defensive players.

For the ofense give the ball to Matt Moore and make a running game plan and agressive defense, trust me Matty can control the ball better than Jake he only need a good game plan, obviously he canĀ“t throw for 300+yards on a game but he can control the ball...the same way that Baltimore or Tennesse did the last season with K. Collins or J. Flacco.

Anyone else think Carter and/or Robinson will be ahead of Jarrett on the depth chart this fall?

Posted by: Ben | Apr 7, 2009 4:13:12 PM

all of you are high. drew carter was a stud..... oh, Im just kidding. jason has a ton of potential. Robinson just isnt going to pan out in the return game. they tried to draft Steve Smith II and the dude just isnt that at all. jake in '09!!!

I think the depth chart will be:

Smith ---- Robinson --- Carter
Moose ---- Jarrett ---- K. Moore other

The Panthers are not going to trade Delhomme. Say it with me everyone. "The Panthers are not going to trade Delhomme." Good. The head coach and GM like him, he's 34 with a large cap hit, what team is going to trade what Fox/Hurney would want in return for him? I may not like it. You may not like it. But he ain't getting traded. Just because Kyle Orton got traded, nobody's going to pay for Delhomme.

Hey guys.

First Free Agent signing of the off-season.

Awesome isn't it?

Posted by: Revshawn | Apr 7, 2009 5:00:31 PM

Jason Carter is just last years Taye Biddle/ Damion Craig. A training camp star that will do nothing in a real game. I'd actually prefer Drew Carter over this guy.

Posted by: brown noser | Apr 7, 2009 5:23:56 PM

Ben, I doubt that will happen without a complete collapse from Jarrett. They have more money and time invested in him, not to mention the motivation to have a 2nd-rounder pan out.

Not true, Rev...Jeff King and Nick Hayden have already signed their FA tenders. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of your argument.
