DE Brown signs ...

The Panthers officially announced the signing of rookie DE Everette Brown. No surprise there. He agreed to terms last week. They're very excited by his potential. They're one rookie away (Sherrod Martin) from having all their draft picks signed before training camp. That deal should get done soon. The Panthers and agent Hadley Englehard both do a good job of taking care of business in a timely, fair manner.

I'm excited.
I have a question: On an NFL football, what does "the Duke" mean?

DSWS: It's an honor to late Giants owner Wellington Mara, who was involved in pro football for over 80 years. It was his nickname.
