Panthers, Martin closing in on contract deal

The agent for second-round pick Sherrod Martin, Hadley Engelhard of Atlanta, says significant progress was made today in contract talks with the team and that only minor details remain to be negotiated. Engelhard said while there is not yet an agreement on all contract terms, he is optimistic a deal should be finalized soon.

Martin, a cornerback, is the Panthers' lone remaining unsigned draft pick.

Training camp opens Sunday, so there's plenty of time to get the deal completed before then.

Nice to go into camp with all of the draft picks signed. In spite of the tough schedule I expect us to repeat as division champs this season.

Yea he is the one player im most intrigued about cant wait to see what he might can add to the secondary, cause I think we need help there the most.I think this is a good draft class and hopeful for all rookies to make a impact.

Why is he the last pick to sign? Youd think someone from troy would have no problem signin on dat line to get dat paper. You know he be wantin to grab dat escalade and sit dat mess on dem 28's.
