DeAngelo "tweaks" toe, but seems ok

Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams got up slowly after getting tackled in Thursday morning's training camp practice and was checked by trainer Ryan Vermillion, but wasn't seriously injured.

Coach  John Fox said Williams "tweaked" his left toe. Williams was able to jog back onto the field for the team huddle with Fox at the end of practice.

Players missing practice were linebacker Thomas Davis (knee), linebacker Jon Beason (hamstring) and guard C.J. Davis (ankle).

As usual, the Panthers will have live scrimmage plays at FanFest tomorrow at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, with only the quarterbacks protected from contact.

Fox said he expects about 36 scrimmage plays, with the first team offense facing the second-team defense, the second-team offense going against the starting defense, and the third-teamers and other reserves squaring off against one another.

FanFest begins at 11 a.m. Following warmups, seven-on-seven drills and some special teams work, Fox expects the live scrimmage to begin around 11:30 a.m.

There is no admission charge.

There's another practice tonight in Spartanburg at 6:40 p.m.
