Panthers quotes from the locker room

The Panthers provided these halftime quotes:

"As an offense, it was great to get out there and get some work. W didn't start as fast as we would have liked, but we did some nice things. We have a lot of work to do and a long way to go to get where we neeed to be." -- QB Jake Delhomme.

"It was fun to get back out in live game action. As a defense you always hate to give up points, but  will learn from tonight and get back to work." -- SS Chris Harris.

"The first time out is always a little sloppy. I thought we played OK in spurts, but it would have been nice top put points on the board. We will learn from this and build on it." -- LT Jordan Gross

Yea, I have no worries. No Steve no Stewart. Kenny Moore looked good actually. D-Will look good and Mike goodson will be a good player he just has to hold the ball. Expect D-will to show him how to do it.

Jake dropped the ball again...whts the deal with him not being able to be under pressure?

It is what it is.

My smile looked pretty friendly, didn't it?

Posted by: J pep | Aug 17, 2009 10:37:08 PM

Jake should have gotten fired. What a waste.

Cantwell continues to play like this he will be the third QB this year to prevent somebody from plucking him off the practice squad. Also, Leman has looked like a beast tonight, albeit against 2nd and 3rd teamers

Posted by: ClayB25 | Aug 17, 2009 11:08:22 PM

anybody else not surprised at that.. hahaha typical

Posted by: ClayB25 | Aug 17, 2009 11:10:34 PM

If we don't keep Leman we will regret it...he's like a Bill Bates type at LBer

What the fuck John Fox and coaching staff .. u just got back in the dam game with the tie and the defense holds - with only 10 seconds left own your own 20 what in the would u call a pass play. take your chances in overtime ... Again John Fox, and Jake need to be fired or released ... and the back up QB's suck and you had a chance to get Micheal Vick and didn't ... DUDE YOU ARE A TOTAL ASSHOLE !!!!

Posted by: Static | Aug 17, 2009 11:27:01 PM

The QB play tonight sucked donkey d@#$!!! Where are all my Michael Vick haters tonight...you sure are quiet!!! He's would have been a better option than any of the bums they put out there tonight including Delhomme. Another thing can someone tell me why the front office haven't made a move on another DT? Our interior defense is suspect and will be exploited the whole year. Beason will probably get manhandle b/c there's no one there to protect him now. Don't get me wrong I'm a Beason fan but our d-line is horrible from the 1st string to 4th string.

Yes may I please speak to Coach Cowher?

Posted by: thenxtgreat | Aug 17, 2009 11:38:42 PM

Was this a rerun from last year? I think I was watching ESPN classic.

Posted by: Dre | Aug 17, 2009 11:43:13 PM

Wow fellas. Can anyone say Pre Season?

Posted by: JD | Aug 17, 2009 11:49:51 PM

again can anyone say PRESEASON ??? yall are so stupid find another team if all of your talk is negative. We as a team did o.k. not great but good, gotta alot of work to do and by the opener we'll be str8 so all of yall halfway fans go cheer for the falcons or eagles or even da cowgirls cause we don't need ya

Posted by: "40" | Aug 18, 2009 12:13:54 AM

oh yeah HEY LANCE" i like vick too" but look at it this way jake's the better of all the QB's in the fold so until we get another buch of prospects ya better pray for da man and trust his instincts, jakes my man like i said before get another team bro. if this isnt what ya want its simple switch to the other side and i still got love for ya man.

Posted by: "40" | Aug 18, 2009 12:18:07 AM

Yeah we can say Pre Season ???

Hell call it what you want but the bottom line is this ... nothing has changed

John Fox style of old school coaching is BS and this is 2009

Jake still over and under throwing guys ... a little pressure and he freaks out

o like i said before the back up's sucks

maybe the carolina administation will wake the hell you and do this year what they should have done and the end of the season last year ...

Fire Fox and COMPANY - Trade Jake ... But i bet that could get a high school QB to replace him. nobody wants Jake but John Fox !!!

Posted by: Static | Aug 18, 2009 12:21:22 AM

Pre Season or not,Fox should have taken care of the qb situation during the offseason.Peppers situation handcuffed the whole team;nevertheless;Foxy and Delhomeboy will be gone next year.7 and 9 this year at best.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH PEOPLE.STICK TO THE ISSUES .WE CAN SAY WHAT WE WANT BECAUSE WE CARE FOR THE TEAM.SO FOR THOSE OF YOU PEOPLE HATING ON THOSE OF US WHO SEE THE WRITING ON THE WALL ; OPEN YOUR EYES.

Some Panthers fans are like the Chicken Littles of NFL fans. They will find some little, easily fixed problems in the PRESEASON and bitch and moan about it. Do you guys enjoy ANYTHING in life? It is what it is.

Posted by: replive | Aug 18, 2009 2:50:56 AM

Oh, now it's "we" is it Jake (Mr. took the team to the superbowl)!

And Grossly overrated, "it would have been nice top put points on the board." DO YA THINK SO! Finally someone said it. D-Will has to make plays in the offensive backfield before he can gain positive yards, and they made Mr. False Start one of the highest paid OL in the NFL!? Who is making all the financial decisions over there!?! I guess the same j*rk off that threw $20M guranteed at Mr. "Gotta-wanna-give-me-a-f*****n-break!

Posted by: SYRPIS | Aug 18, 2009 2:53:30 AM

The same people that are whining about Fox going for it late in the 4th are the same people that were hammering him for being conservative in games last year.
It just goes to show how stupid some "fans" can be.
Im glad Big Cat and Hurney are in charge and not you morons.
You'd fire Fox immediatley only to have him sign with another team minutes later..
You guys need to be thankful for what you have
A coach that WINS football games.
Just think..
We could of just totally lost all respect around the league for signing trash arm Vick.
At least our FO wasn't dumb enough to do that.

It was a preseason game, people..
What did you expect other than rust and cobwebs?

Posted by: Dude.. | Aug 18, 2009 3:09:50 AM

5-11 this year. I told ya so!

Posted by: StartCantwell | Aug 18, 2009 6:28:11 AM

You people are ridiculous! There are 3 more games coming that will determine our season, as preseason games always do! Get a life, Panther haters. It would have been nice to get a little more qb talent on this team, but that position ain't gonna make or break us. No one position will, it's a team sport. I back my team, do you? 10-6, wildcard, NFC champs, SB losers. Go Panthers!!! All you Falcon/Vick fans go back to ATL (At The Least)

Posted by: lordward | Aug 18, 2009 7:03:47 AM

+1 with the haters +vick -jake -fox

Posted by: fire fox.com | Aug 18, 2009 7:45:00 AM

The skies are not falling. Our first team played one quarter without several key players on offense. Instead of predicting records and proclaiming that everyone should be fired and traded why don't we look at the positives of the first preseason game?
1)Jaws said it several times, Carolina might have found a player in Mike Goodson.
2)Butler High grad Kenny Moore caught everything that came his way and played with the first and second teams. Does he have a shot?
3)This Lemen character reminds me of the crazed, LB from the Program, Steve Lattimer...minus the steroids and facepaint
4)Everette Brown had a sack in his first game and displayed the kind of speed and moves that that the panthers hoped to see when the traded away their 2010 1st rounder

Tackling, tackling, tackling, tackling. Wrap up, wrap up, wrap up, wrap up.
Hit with authority, hit with authority.
Stop looking for excuses, look for solutions
Hit, hit, hit, hit, hit.
That's the key to success on defense.
Now, back to Spartanburg and work out the kinks.
