BREAKING NEWS: #Panthers put McCown on IR, now need a QB
This just in: According to a source, the Panthers have put backup quarterback Josh McCown on injured reserve and now are looking to sign a quarterback to serve as Jake Delhomme's backup.
McCown suffered knee and foot injuries in Sunday's 38-10 loss to Philadelphia. It appeared he would be back back in a month or less, but the Panthers decided to put him on IR.
Among the possibilities to take his place: Former Eagles' backup A.J. Feeley and Jeff Garcia, recently cut by Oakland.

Panthers need to bring up Cantrell from practice squad. He's accurate, big, and athletic

AJ Feeley is a stud of a backup. He had a great preseason with the eagles and got dumped for Vick. He might end up replacing Delhomme as the starter if Jake doesn't shape up!

We don't need a stud backup. We need a capable starter in case Delhomme keeps up his record setting stats.
I can hardly imagine it, but I say sign Garcia over Feely or Griese. Feely is a lifetime backup and Griese just has problems.
I still think we should give Moore a good look and even Hunter.

"Panthers now need a QB"....LOL. We needed a QB before he was put on IR. Garcia is the only viable FA worth a look while Anderson & Jackson are the only two viable trade possibilities.

trade for vick! ..what happened to my post?

A.J. Feeley's preseason stats:
35/46 for 350 yards for 1 TD and 0 INT's in 2 games with Philly. He was the 6th highest rated QB in the preseason. I know preseason is just that, but he was always a solid backup and I think given a good team can be a great starter.

why do we get washed up QB'S all the damn time? Fox you suck. You had 8months to prepare the team the upcoming season. Instead what did you do? This season is lost and i feel bad for guys like Steve Smith who work so hard to make plays. Mark my words before you know it he will demand a trade. There is no chance for him winning a superbowl ring with the panthers. Oh ya, your coaching sucks... the offensive coordinator is a joke.

I hope we get A.J. he's far better than Garcia!

Garcia got released by Oakland because he didn't want to be #2 (with JaMarcus Russell there, that makes me question why he signed with them in the first place). I can't see him agreeing to be backup for us either. He's want a shot at beating Jake out as the starter. But he has experience in stepping in and changing the course of a team's season (see 2006 Eagles, particularly against us).
At this point, anything above a non-trained monkey would be an upgrade.

last year the Eagles benched McNabb after back to back games including:
BOX SCORE: Ravens 36, Eagles 7
McNabb was 8-for-18 for 59 yards with two interceptions and a fumble in the first half — a miserable 13.2 quarterback rating. One week earlier, he threw three interceptions and lost a fumble in an overtime tie with Cincinnati.
Seven turnovers in seven quarters

Jake should be the backup!

You know, I thought a few days ago we should get Garcia, but I'm glad (if it's true) that we signed Feely. Garcia insists on starting, and while any QB brought in could unseat Jake in a few games, it's not going to happen right now. With Feely you have a QB that has shown moments of quality play, and at 32 is still younger than Jake and a lot younger than Garcia. Still, if we play so badly that Fox eventually sits Jake, it will be too late to rescue the season anyway. Fox is such a stuborn coot. His quote today defending Jake says it all:
"It's not just Jake. We just didn't execute very well in the passing game," Fox said. "A couple of those third-and-longs I wish we had run our patented draw instead of screens. Because that resulted in two touchdowns, one sack fumble and one interception."
Jeez...even he calls it our "patented draw". I mean, who cares if everyone knows what we're doing?

SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME THE DIFFERENCE between McNabb last year and Jake now:

Jakie D has been throwing of his back foot for 3 or 4 years now, he is too afraid to step up in the pocket and make the throw, he hesitates and holds and eventually makes the throw we all know he is gonna make. Every time he drops back, its like skating on thin ice, you never know when its gonna break. His best days are gone. Fox needs to man up here and stop going with his boy. Garcia is the guy we should have signed, Feeley may have had decent preseason numbers, but look at his career stats, they suck, more picks than tds, We should have signed who the Eagles signed, Garcia may be old, but he has intangibles that you just cant teach
