LT Gross, C Kalil say #Panthers' O-line didn't give Delhomme a chance

The Panthers offensive line exited a very difficult film review session this afternoon saying they deserved more blame than they received yesterday for the team's poor offensive performance in a 38-10 loss to Philadelphia.

Left tackle Jordan Gross and center Ryan Kalil were apologetic about the way the line played, saying Delhomme received far too much blame.

They said Delhomme didn't have nearly enough time to throw, and that it was disappointing the line didn't adjust better to the Eagles' blitzes.

Excuses! Excuses! Was not just O-lines fault!

That's what I've been saying. When you have ALL 3 QB's stink it up in ONE GAME... you need to look further than just ONE PLAYER (i.e. Delhomme). Start looking at the O-Line. The guys up front just flat out screwed the pooch yesterday.

OL was BAD...

But when you get pressure, THROW THE BALL AWAY....

Don't run back 15 yards and lay the ball in the endzone for the OTHER TEAM.

We understand you had pressure, but don't just GIVE THE BALL away under the press. Give your team a change to live another day... throw the ball away!!

And I don't understand WHY they kept passing. Their running game was NOT BAD! IF you know JAKE is being JAKE, RUN THE BALL!

Peyton Manning couldn't have functioned behind that line yesterday. What Delhomme needs to answer for is not protecting the ball better under pressure. He needs to take the sack rather than turning the ball over.

Kalil is the real goat from yesterday as it is his responsibility to call the line plays and adjust for the blitzes before the snap.

All the delhomme haters don't know anything. You could of put Peyton manning behind that line yesterday and it wouldn't of mattered. You gotta protect him. They will fix this problem and when they do, all these idiots will be right back on jake's nuts.

Jeff Davidson is the real one to blame here(Fox & QB coach Rip to some extent). Great coaches put their players in the best situation to succeed. 3 step drops, Sliding of the pocket/roll outs/bootlegs, dump passes to RBs, Max protecting with TEs & FB instead of RBs as well as passing on 1st down help when facing blitzing/pressure defenses. True Fox said he wished they had run more draws instead of screens, but the 1st screen to a RB wasn't until 3 minutes to go in the 1st half. Too late then, the outcome of the game was already decided. Hopefully the adjustments will be made by the next game or we could be witnessing Jake's last game as starter for the Panthers.

Annoyed?...tell you what I'm annoyed with...people like you who call people like me a "jake hater"...lol...I dont hate anyone but there is noone in this league who would keep playing a guy who has had 11 TO's in 2 games...11?....thats pathetic...the line blocked fine the Eagles just did what everyone else is gonna do...blitz the house and scare jake into throwing several picks per game like he always does...people dont hate Jake they hate Fox for continuing to start a pathetic QB like Jake...with Jake we are just sick of seeing his sad ass.

Moore is our 3rd string QB and I guarantee you he might suck too but he wouldnt have 11 TO's in 2 games...come on dont be as blind as Fox is when it comes to Del(plzzzgo)homme...he is a decent QB at best not someone who can win super bowls...which is sad because look at all the talent surrounding him...and he still sucks?...thats why people run down JD.

and one last thing....JAKE SUX...PERIOD!!!!

Posted by: jason king | Sep 14, 2009 4:16:25 PM

Foxx and Hurney have taken this team as far as it's gonna go under them and their band of coaches. The year after The Super Bowl year is the year it all began to fall apart.Jack Delrio left and he was never sufficiently replaced. No qb was brought in to push Delhomme,no aggression at all.Chris Jenkins was right, they don't play with any heart

Amen!!

Huskers86 is right. The OL played a very important part in that debacle of a game yesterday.

LEAVE JAKE ALONE! Even Tom Brady wouldn't have played good behind that line.

We should have gotten Michael Vick when we had the chance. We will never win a superbowl as long as we have Jake :(

Posted by: True Words | Sep 14, 2009 6:51:21 PM

Our O line doesn't know how to pick up the blitz because we don't employ a blitz package in our defensive scheme (enough). If they don't face it in practice, they're lost in gametime situations.

Vanilla thinking on both sides of the ball.

I guess if Delhoe doesn't have 7 seconds (or more) to throw the ball than the offensive line is at fault?!? Give it a rest!!!

To HELL with Ryan Kalil,Period. Point,Blank. I miss Hangartner, and was always a supporter of his over "ButterBall" Kalil, who cant stay healthy for whatever reason.

How the hell can you be a starting center in the NFL,When you are the one that snaps the ball and have false starts? It must be a USC Trojan thing.

(ON A SIDENOTE) : MEMO to the Panthers Front Office, never draft or sign another USC player to the team, they never contribute to the team.

Jake was the blame for not holding on to the ball better when he is going to be sacked. But in the NFL you can still throw the ball away. And with the way our line was letting people come thur UNTOUNCHED that is needed to be practiced this week and maybe put in the play book because I would feel alot better throwing the ball away and call another play than getting a sack like the one sunday.Or teach Jake to hold the ball for every thing in him if he has to take the sack.So only 3 things to learn and we will be ready for anybody LINE BLOCK,THROW AWAY,HOLD ON TO THE BALL.But I am a DIEHARD PANTHER so I will be there again game but I want to see a different outcome.
