#Panthers' Leonard scheduled for surgery, headed for IR
Panthers defensive tackle Louis Leonard suffered a clean break in his left ankle and is scheduled to undergo surgery this week with a six-month recovery time to follow, according to a source. He'll be placed on the injured reserve list and is out for the season. The Panthers are again back in the market for a defensive tackle. Leonard was playing reasonably well after being acquired from Cleveland for a late-round draft pick to fill the void left by Maake Kemoeatu's training camp Achilles injury.

Was the pick we traded away conditional? If so does this injury nullify us from having to give it up?

I have never heard the exact terms. To bad Charlotte O can't poke around and find some specifics on this trade.

No, it was a conditional late round pick, so we'll still have to give one away, but it will most likely be our last pick.

Either way, that's awful. Even a 7th-round pick is a terrible thing to give up for a fill-in player who barely plays a single game. You can get pretty good players in the 7th round. We got our nickel corner (Munnerlyn) in the 7th this year and last year we got both of our top O-Line backups, Bernadeau and Schwartz. If we can't beat Dallas and turn this season around, we're screwed probably for the next few years at least.

I see your point jim, because we won't have our first round pick or our seventh in next years draft. But if they don't franchise peppers again(if they do they have to pay him 20 million+) they will have alot more cap space to play around with in free agency.

Well possibly our seventh depending on whatever they gave up for Leonard.

Is Brett Farve available for DT? (joking) Sure do miss him being the headline of every NFL story :)

I agree with Kane. Next year, the Peppers contract will go away one way or another, and we'll be very active in the free agency period. We should have enough cap space to make up for lack up a 1st rounder.
Light years away, though. There's 14 games left to make something out of this season.

The Panthers need to trade for Tank Tyler from Kansas City. Tank is ready for a breakout season and is a heck of a DT. Bring Tank back to NC!

Jim, are you serious??? How about congradulations for picking up Munnerlynn in the 7th round!? How about great job for spotting Leanord and brining him in here for a conditional pick?!? The guy was going to be the Chris Harris of this year before he got injured. That being said, Jim, I will bite my tongue when it comes to your post. wow.

Deangelo Williams fumbles the ball and John Fox wasted a first round pick for him. They should fire Fox!
Kemoatu, Hayden, and Leanord get injured. Also Harris and Diggs get injured too. That is way too many injuries. Bill Cowher didn't have that many injuries on defense! They should bring him in.
Cowher made the Superbowl in his third year and was they youngest coach (at that time) to make it to a Superbowl. In only his 15th season as a head coach with the same team, he won a superbowl and immediately retired, only to make a move and lobby for a different coaching position in the Carolinas.
Fox made it to the Superbowl in only his second year and in his seven years with the same team, he has not won the Superbowl. Last year his team dominated and most had them picked (even from the beginning of the year) as a Superbowl favorite. The handsome and mosts winningneststed Panther QB in history had a uncharacteristic game, fumbling and throwing interceptions, and so the team had an embarrassing performance. I know so cause the TV said so. It was only one bad performance so he deserved a big contract because I love to go to Hardee's in the morning and Mr. Richardson is so wonderful. Anyway, Fox didn't bring in a good backup QB, and I don't care how much cap space he had. So it's John Fox's fault that Jake sucks, even though he has a run first offense and it has been said by many that he does not give Jake many opportunities. Fox should have never made that contract that much for Jake. It makes Jake nervous. Did I say how much I love Jake. He is the reason this team wins so much! GO JAKE!
So, in conclusion, we should fire Fox and hire Cowhard!! Go Cowhard!!! I love Cowhard too!!!!!
Oh did I say that Fox only makes the playoffs every other year on average and has way too many injuries on his team!
