RB Stewart still on hold, but hopeful
Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart still isn’t giving any assurances that he’ll play in the season opener against
Stewart said after Thursday night’s exhibition against Pittsburgh that he still has soreness in his Achilles but that “we’ll see how things play out” this week.
Stewart hasn’t practiced since Aug. 11 and participated in only eight practices during training camp after sitting out all minicamp and summer school drills.
He said he’s been staying in shape by doing pool exercises with team trainers.
“Mentally, it’s been real tough,” said Stewart. “The good thing is, with the playbook, I’ve got that kind of tucked into my belt. Because of that (compared to his rookie preseason last year), it’s been a lot easier. I’m not worried about the plays, (but) it’s frustrating to not be able to get out there and improve in areas I know I can improve in.”

I can see the PUP list coming this week..
I would have already put him on the PUP list!
What week can they come back, week 6?

It is probably stiff and sore from standing there at every practice and game. I don't want to see him injury things worse than they are, but at some point you have to give it a try. Hoping for the best this season from the Panthers.

I think if it was the regular season he would have played.

Why is it that on this blog he may practice this week while in another one he said he was playing this week no matter what?

i fell bad for stewart, but i am glad to see goodson get the touches he needed during preseason, man i really like goodson, lookout stewart, another panthers is looking over your shoulder who can score on one play...stay focus goodson and hild onto the ball..

tim, as long as goodson continues to fumble, there is no way that stewart's job, when healthy, is in jeapordy.

Ya'll should probably know how the PUP list works before you go shooting your mouths off. If a player reports to camp and is cleared to play (as Stewart was), he cannot be subsequently placed on the list. Not an option. We can IR him or carry him on the roster.

SyrPISS still has a gay-crush on Peppers I see.Suppose some things will never change.

I dont see how anyone can dispute the fact that despite all the money he is making this season, Peppers hasnt shown anything this preseason to show he is worth even half of what he will be making. Anybody ever heard the saying you practice to get better or you play how you practice?

On the other hand, has ANYONE on the Panthers shown anything in the preseason to justify their salary? Wait for games that mean something before flying off the handle, people!

Week 1, Stewart plays. Week 2, Stewart plays. Week 3, IR.
hope i'm wrong

It's not always my fault. I just want some Bojangles biscuits, is it that hard? I'll start moving my feet a little more and get out of the pocket, and stop throwing so many interceptions when I'm pressured... I promise can we all be friends...please! Jake is a Joke!!!

This will probably be a frustrating season for every fan, new or old, but think of it like madden (the game). Wait for it... Every year it comes out and they promise the best game you ever played, and for the most part things they say are relatively true. But at the end of the day there are so many glitches and so much missing out of the gameplay and presentation that you feel that you've been bamboozled. The point is you play it till next years game comes out, what can you do about it??? Simply nothing. Go Panthers even if it's 3-13!!!

I definitely think he should give it a go. If they don't know if it's something that's going to require surgery and shelf him for the season, why not go out and at least try to play on it.

Fox may think the achilles is going to pop! If so, he wants to get as many yards as possible out of it b4 it goes. Yards in games that count.

CONGRATS TO ALL THE POSTERS ON HERE!!! I give you the award for the worst fans and biggest crybabies in the NFL. Seriously people let them play one real game before you give them a losing record! I do belive the only team in the NFL last year to have a undefeated pre-season was the detroit lions so please give me a break with this whining!

Last time I checked, the preseason don't count. I don't need to see the Daily Show (JStew) in games the mean diddly-poo. If he gets hurt then he gets hurt-but at least let it be in a game that actually counts.

Rest Stewart & plat Goodson & if Stewart health problems continues then just put him on IR so he's ready for next year. With our new GM & coaching staff! That goodness!Play Goodson & tape the ball to his hands.

Toney,
I'm w/you, I'm still confident we have a great season and make it to the playoffs. No on in the NFC South is going to be running off with the title. I think if we can get healthy and the defense can play with some intensity, we will do very well.
