Panthers' Davis misses practice with hamstring injury

Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis missed Thursday's practice with a hamstring injury. Coach John Fox wouldn't say how serious the injury is, or when Davis hurt it. Davis is leading the team in tackles this season.

Kicker Rhys Lloyd (ankle) also missed practice.

Linebacker Na'il Diggs, running back Jonathan Stewart and fullback Brad Hoover returned to practice after missing Wednesday. -- David Scott

The best player on the team this season. Hope he isn't out long!!

Get well TD, you're the backbone of the squad this year.

Posted by: Bayou Panther | Oct 22, 2009 1:34:29 PM

you've got to be kidding me.......oh well, its not like we actually have a chance this season anyway. So he might as well rest it up as long as he can.....As for you Coach 'itIswhatItis', you can't hide behind injuries year, you're out the door as soon the clock strikes 0:00 in the last week. I hope he's cleaning out his office getting ready for our new coach to move in.

if we can't beat buffalo without TD, then our season is over anyway. I say rest him for ARI, we will need him. I am hoping the cats can pull one out Sunday and then get a little revenge for the playoff game. which would truly be a "little ", but still better than none.

tick tock Faux!!!

All you people calling for Fox to be out need to chill and have some faith in your team. Every time there is a mediocre season you are always calling for someone's head. Already forgotten that the Panthers went 12-4 last season? You are so fickle.

Posted by: Blair | Oct 22, 2009 2:33:24 PM

I like Fox but Marty got canned after a 12-4 season. Fox has to bring back the magic (Steve Smith, Double Trouble, Stopping the run) or he's done. It's possible he actually has the pieces to do it. Is McCown better yet?

Posted by: ripp | Oct 22, 2009 2:43:48 PM

Come back at 100%, Davis. I agree with Homie. We should be OK THIS week without Davis, but we'll need all hands on deck when we go visit Kurt Warner.

This will be another excuse for Fox to try to keep his job....boohoo injuries to (insert player's name) kept us from winning this season.

Speedy recovery Davis!!!!

Marty got canned after a 14-2 season.. but.. he lost in the playoffs.. that's the biggest thing.

Jesus people, shut up about a new coach. We're not even to the 6th game of the season yet. Worry about that at the end of the season.

Just looking forward to Sunday's game and hoping for a win.

Posted by: Kevin | Oct 22, 2009 4:03:57 PM

Fire-Fox, you said a few games ago that Fox wouldn't win a game this year, now eat your words and tell everyone how retarded you really are. Fox isn't going anywhere this year, he has a contract till the end of next year. Before then, they will sign him to a longer deal, so deal with it & stfu about a new coach, half you imbeciles calling for a new coach are saying hire some1 that isnt as good as Fox. Also Fire-Fox, faux sounds nothing like Fox, your attempt to be funny is failing you miserably.

Posted by: MrBernz | Oct 22, 2009 4:32:35 PM

Blair, what a goof you are. We did not call for Fox's head in the pervious years. We had freak injuries to Delhomme,Steve Smith, Dan Morgan, Kris Jenkins, in the past, so John Fox got a PASS because he was missing his stars! but there's no excuse this year. There's no excuse for Jake Delhomme leading the league in interceptions. For players apologizing for not playing well every week. For Steve Smith to now be called the "THE OTHER" Steve Smith. All this goes directly to Fox. So how bout you go back with the rest of those fake Panther fans who are satisfied with barely getting by 2 of the worst teams in the NFL.

Posted by: Smitty | Oct 22, 2009 4:37:56 PM

Whan your star player is not happy. Changes have to be made and it starts with the coach, who is holding on to a QB that is not producing. Last year or this year like years past.

So if they don't get rid of the coach, than we'll see how everyone feels next season. We have 22 0f 24 players back this year so what is the explanation.... Just a slow start! Can't be for injuries like years past when we had major injuries to multiple players.

Live in your little fantasy world until you have to be Cracked over the head, just like everyone about Delhomme.

Who says Fox is a good coach? The Sports Media who everytime they say "Fox is a Good coach" a Stand up or Nice Guy. A nice guy does not relate to a good coach. They never say why, other than he is a nice guy or stand up guy.

Posted by: fox has to go!! | Oct 22, 2009 5:18:47 PM

Blair, the person who keeps calling John Fox's name out over and over and over like a little girl with a crush is just using different names to type under.

They type the same thing on every blog or updated blog,Ive come to the point that I just ignore the post and dont feed the troll.

Sorry not the same guy. Just same opinion and there happens to be many that feel the same way. Imagine that there could be more than one person who feels this why. Idiot!

Posted by: fox has to go!! | Oct 23, 2009 9:43:51 AM

Fox has to go -- not because of this season or any single season. Because I have never seen a coach hold so tightly onto the reins of a team and let absolutely no other coaches do their job. You know how Miami gets all the credit for starting the Wildcat? Dan Henning actually ran that here is week 16 against the Falcons (about 3 years ago I think) when Jake was hurt and Chris Weinke was horrible. We passed 7 times the whole game, D-Williams took direct snaps in a formation much like the old single wing and the Panthers WON !!! I can only guess that Coach Fox didn't like the feel of something so radical and wouldn't allow it. Now Miami runs the Wildcar with Henning as O-Coordinator. And Jeff Davidson's play calling looks as vanilla and predictable as Henning's was. Guess what -- I doubt it is Davidson or Henning who wants to be so boring and predictable in offense. It's Coach Fox. Week after week I see other teams run plays I can't even imagine the Panthers trying in practice. Fox is way too conservative. And another thing -- Jake is no longer the best option -- Matt Moore is ready (he went 2-1 as a starter 2 years ago). Fox will not change his style, so we must change coaches.

Ghostofsparta, My bad not mature.

James, Amen.

We should have been crushing Teams with this talent since 03. When We were The Cardiac Cats... That was an insult.. we should have crushed the majority of the teams, but john Fox was too busy playing Passive, not to lose philosiphy.

Posted by: fox has to go!! | Oct 23, 2009 2:28:03 PM

Add Marty Schottenheimer to that list of coaches. He lives in the Lake Norman area now. That aside, Fox could conceivably improve his position by cleaning house where the offensive coaches are concerned and getting us a new QB. Doubt that happens though. At the same time, I wonder if this same dialogue is going on with Titans fans.
