#Panthers safety Harris should return vs. #Redskins
Looks like Panthers safety Chris Harris has a good chance of being back in the lineup for Sunday's game against Washington. Outside linebacker Thomas Davis said he felt certain Harris and fellow linebacker Na'il Diggs would be back to face the Redskins. Harris wouldn't confirm his return, but it certainly appears likely. He's missed the first three games due to a knee injury suffered in practice four days before the season opener against Philadelphia. Diggs sat out the Panthers' game at Dallas a week ago due to bruised ribs.
Fullback Brad Hoover also might start against Washington after not playing against the Cowboys due to back pain that surfaced in Carolina's Sept. 20 loss at Atlanta.

We certainly could use a good stretch of healthy players and winable games! Let's hope we can turn this season around by building some momentum against Washington and Tampa Bay!

I will take any bet that we lose both of these so called easy games. Face it Panther fans, we are the worst team in the league right now. We have some of the best talent, but our coaching staff has us playing with one hand behind out back. Faux must go before we will win even a single game this year. BOOK IT

About time he plays! If he does, it will be a completely different secondary. There will be at least one back there that will not be affraid to put a lick on someone and make a tackle!!! Getting Hoover back is a HUGE bonus too! Now if our coaches would only wisen up and let our studs (DWil & JStew) win the game for us instead of Jake, we should be able to make a good run.

I"m with you fire fox, there are no easy games in the nfl and furthermore, we all know Foxy will play Jake the whole game, and he plays worse at home! And who cares if Chris Harris comes back, he missed alot of tackles in preseason too!And who made Brad Hoover and Na'll Diggs saviors? Both are overthehill anyways!

Panthers52 - the O line has to step up to give 'double trouble' a chance to win the game and the D has to not give it away. Jake was definitely a problem in the 1st game, but he was not to blame in the 2nd loss, and little of the 3rd loss was on him either. The O line has to open holes for the 'studs' to run thru...

Hoover plays a bigger role in the running game than most people think - he's one heck of a blocker.

agreed, fox is holding this team back with his ultra conservative gameplanning and poor timed attempts at big plays in the passing game....we saw what the panthers defense can do if allowed to blitz and play bump and run against dallas in the first half but then it happened....we scored and fox took his foot off the pedal and so did everyone else...i've seen us act like a 7 point lead is good enough and then coast to a loss so many times recently it's time for fox to go...the game is not over after you go up one score!!!!!!

Unlike previous years, not having healthy starters is not going to cut it for John Fox! This team's problems are way beyond what Chris Harris can fix.

you guys need to take your prozac. worst team in the league? if we had played st. louis, kc and cleveland the first three weeks we would probably be 2-1 or 3-0, but does that mean we would actually be any better or worse? we played two very good teams and one average team so far. we will win a few here and there. can we get to nine, that is the question.

Richard,
DWil had ONLY 11 carries in the Dallas game and averaged just under 6 yards per carry. That is well above what you need to win the game (4 yards to victory) if the coaches were to stick with the game plan. Instead, we came out at half up by 7 and thew on our first 10 of 15 plays. Therefor we didn't have a 1st down until late in the 4th and our D actually played really well only giving up 13 points considering they were on the field the ENTIRE second half! And Chris Harris will be a HUGE, let me restate that HUGE addition when he comes back!

what very good teams...Dallas and Philly are average at best... they're just a notch better then us right now. we just doesn't play well against the NFC East. but I agree on the st. louis, kc and cleveland comment.

I thought Gamble was suppose to be the number one pass defender. After loseing lucus. Whats going on

Too many fans, and sports writers, get caught up talking about the "skill" position play. Nothing works on either side of the ball if the guys up front aren't getting the job done. Too few quality, dependable O-line and D-line players. Why is this so hard for so many to figure out?
Posted by: Scott Griffin | Oct 5, 2009 4:45:10 PM
Last time I checked we had a great O-line who played much better in game 2 and 3 but I guess that's too hard to see by the success we've had on the ground since we don't like to give the ball to the RB's.
Game 2: 14 carries for 79 yards = 4.9 yards/carry.
Game 3: 11 carries for 64 yards = 5.8 yards/carry.
Again, if you don't STICK to your bread and butter, it won't work!!
Sh*t starts at the top and runs downhill, quick. It's simple physics.
It'd be like telling Peyton he's only going to throw 10 times a game...

I really don't see how it's possible for the Panthers to have any respect or honor, unless they bench peppers for the rest of the year. Benching Peppers is the scream from the ghost of NFL players gone on before. Benching Peppers is the only possible way for Mr. Richardson , his GM Hurney, his head coach Fox, and his DC Meeks to save face. Doing nothing is cowardly and even further embarrassment to the 15 million fans who have given their support. At least have some decency about you and bench peppers.

It was mistake letting Former Defensive Coach to go. I hate TAMPA TWO cover; it's sucks. No Team did well unless; you have 5 HallFAME players like Old TAMPA. Look, this season with Colts Defense, They playing much better without TAMPA TWO Defensive. Another thing, WHy MEEKS allows Captain to guard Roy William--WHY,WHY,WHY,WHY AND where is Gamble.
WE need to Fire MEEKS this year and get really Defensive coach that can Blize or Fox make the call before you were Defensive coach with Giants.

if the PANTHERS can't be the hapless skins, they are worse than I think...

Why don't the coaches move Rosario from tight end, to our #2 receiver. He is the only one that seems to get open and make a play. Moose is done in this league, I mean how many times do I have to watch him jog up the field and let the db intercept the ball. Hoover is key to the offense, he is the best blocking fullback in the league!
Posted by: memyselfandI | Oct 5, 2009 8:20:32 PM
I don't see why anyone is shocked by our play, I mean everyother year since fox has been our coach has been a disaster. We knew Peppers would not play up to his contract. Heck we as fans all knew that Hurney mortgaged the whole team on that deal. They gambled our whole season, and have already had to fold.
Posted by: memyselfandI | Oct 5, 2009 8:23:15 PM
I even bet next year that any worth while free agent will be signed by Dallas or Washington next year, during the uncapped year. Jerry Jones will stock up and so will little Napoleon in Washington.

It'll be interested to see what happens to Fox, Jake and Hurney at the end of the season. I could be wrong, but it looks to me like the game has passed Fox by and that he's lost this team. I suspect that the reason why Peppers wanted out, as well as some of the coaching staff, is that nobody is buying into Fox's philosophy any longer.
I think Pep realized that his true talents were being squandered with the Panthers, in that he wasn't being used as a pure pass rusher. Look at it this way, here we have a coach who subscribes to the theory that smash mouth running and a strong defense wins games. And yet, do we see him continually subscribing to this theory, sticking with it game to game and play to play? No, we don't. Or, at least, we haven't seen that since the Phoenix playoff game. I don't make any pretense to understanding NFL football more than Coach Fox does, but even I knew that putting the game squarely on Jake's shoulders, and abandoning our heralded running game in the process, was a huge mistake in that game.
I think that Fox's conservatism is causing these players to go deaf when he talks, and to play with little heart and little enthusiasm in the games. It looks to me like this is a team that has lost it's way. One that is waiting for something to happen that will drastically alter fortunes....like a change at the quarterback, gm and coaching positions.

Thank GOD, Charles Gofrey sucks!!
Posted by: Pat G | Oct 5, 2009 9:53:43 PM
Whats with them not confirming he will play, they were saying he may play against Dallas, if he was a maybe then, 2 weeks later he should be definitely ready no questions. And whats with these eggheads talking about no players coming back off injuries will help? It certainly wont hurt, come on guys show some team support or give up being a fan, go bandwagon some winning team.
