#Panthers signing DT Thomas today, says source

Defensive tackle Hollis Thomas, a 14-year veteran released this week by the St. Louis Rams, is signing with the Carolina Panthers today, according to a source.

Thomas, 35, will add much-needed depth to Carolina's injury-depleted defensive line.

The Panthers moved quickly to land him after the Rams released him Tuesday in what appeared to be a move toward youth.

Thomas was getting part-time play in St. Louis after being a long-time starter for the Eagles and Saints.

At 6-0, 340 pounds, he's known as a run stuffer, a weakness the Panthers have had since Maake Kemoeatu suffered a torn Achilles tendon on the opening practice of training camp on Aug. 3.

Awesome. Now how about hiring an offensive coordinator that will stick with our bread and butter in D-Williams and Stewart instead of making the turnover machine Delhomme throw the ball 35 times.

Maybe there still will be a pulse after the bye week... we can only hope they right the ship.

Mike, you're reaching bro. Signing doesn't matter; Kitty Cats will still be garbage. Panthers don't have the personnel to run the Cover-2 effectively. Meeks is overrated.

Sweet. A reject from the Rams. Awesome.

Well, he's 340 pounds... that'll be the heaviest one we've had in here to date. Maybe it will work out for once this season.

Newsflash - DTs don't grow on trees.

All anti-panther comments demonstrate the total football ignorance of the Carolina fans. You should be grateful to have the team and coaches. I guess you all set your tivo's to replay the George Seifert games and are totally confused with team personnel.

Try this buy a copy of Madden and learn how to support your team.

Though Im not completely against this move, Richardson needs to reign in Fox and Hurney. This is just another example of them mortgaging the future to try to win now. Thomas has been a solid player in this league and is an immediate upgrade, but he's 35 years old. Sunny Harris is a rookie with real potential for years to come.
Panthers better go on a run after the bye and put together a respectable season. If they dont win now, we could spend years talking about 2009 when we lost a top-5 draft pick to SF and crushed our future with bad contracts.

Man, it sure would be nice to have Kris Jenkins here right about now. Too bad management decided to trade him away due to "character issues", when all he did was say how Peppers and the rest of the defense didn't play with any heart. Yeah, he was way off on that one...
