Davis walking on injured knee
NEW ORLEANS -- Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis was walking without the aid of crutches or a brace after Sunday's game against the Saints. Davis hurt his right knee late in the game and didn't return.
He said in the locker room that he thought he had hyper-extended it, but that was certainly no kind of official diagnosis.
Until he left the game, Davis had six tackles -- including two for losses.
Davis has been hampered by injuries since training camp opened. He missed much of the preseason with a knee injury, then didn't play against Buffalo two weeks ago because of a hamstring injury. -- David Scott

Sigh... another missed opportunity. Story of the year, and at least somewhat John Fox's Carolina tenure. I guess that could be said of most coaches, but these types of losses are really getting old.

If he is he needs to let someone know or atleast give us a better effort then he gave today.

Him walking on it means absolutely nothing in terms of severity. Local college basketball fans will remember Bobby Frasor literally running off the court to the locker room after tearing his ACL 2 years ago.

i don't understand dwayne jarret. i mean the guy catches the ball when its thrown at his hands but he has absolutely no desire to reach for a ball that could have essentially won the game or atleast locked up overtime. completely catchable. delhomme did his job, this one's on the backs and jarrett. and what was the deal with the weird center exchanges all game?

As if it wasn't obvious alredy DWill is our best RB and should have got way more carries in the 2nd half. Saints cut it to 20-13 and we decide we need to go away from what was working and start passing and giving it to Stew. Love it when Williams runs 10 yards 1st down then bring in Stew and try to pass. You see Williams and the O-Line gaining momentum and they go away from it and it blows up in their face EVERY time.
Great effort by the team. Piss poor by the coaches and play callers. Don't try to blame it on DWill for the fumble and dropped pass, shouldn't have been in that position anyway.
Typical inept, loser coaching, don't realize what was working and get away from it.
Also, our coaches, when behind, love to start burning all their timeouts at the 2-4 minute mark. I think it was buffalo game they started burning them at the 4 min. mark. If we had one left we could have challenged the punt downed at the 1 yrd line by the guy who went in the endzone 1st. Don't think he really had 2 feet back in.
It sucks to see us play hard and well to be undermined by dumbass coaching.

"Great game manager & leader" my arse!!! I am so sick of hearing that. I do feel bad for the guy having such a bad time with it, but at least I don't have to listen to/read as much of the BS anymore!
Richardson, by relocating your sons in their place with the franchise, you have shown a glimpse of understanding the basice economic principle of "seperate entity." Now, it is really important we move on to the next important and basic economic principle of "sunk cost." IT IS TIME TO BENCH JAKE in favor of anyone available.
Finally, someone said something about him burning timeouts regularly. Other QB's don't always have to do that. Game manager my arse. Secondly his turnovers have finally been well publicized. Thirdly, now he can't handle a snap!? Finally, yeah, "he's an emotional guy and it's a great asset" my arse! What kind of leader screams at the bench that he wants to throw the ball downfield (using hand motions so the whole world can see, no less)?? Also, he is going to not only point fingers but get into a lengthy lecture and shout at his players on the field??? Lack of maturity much??
Richardson, I get that you threw $20M at him despite him still being under contract for the next couple of years, being pretty old, apparently not fully recovered from a serious injury, and a disastorous playoff performance. OK, you messed up, but by CONTINUING TO INVEST THE REST OF YOUR FUTURE INTO THE GUY IS AN EVEN BIGGER MISTAKE!!! Consider the $20M a sunk cost, count your losses, and move on while you still can already!!
I mean seriously, with this type of thing going on, there is only so much a head coach can pull off. In other words, he can only mask the problem with a rushing attack to a certain extent!

You know I would have loved to win this game but at least they are playing like a team again. The Saints are the best in the NFC and they have proved that again. Hopefully we can find something in all this and push hard again next week.

SirPiss, your the most negative so called Carolina Panther fan ever. That spells D-O-U-C-H-E.

Are you joking me Sypris?
The problem here is that Jeff Davidson can't call a good game to save his life. Why the hell someone would get away from the running game in the 4th quarter even though it has been working ALL GAME blows my mind to hell.
I have been patient. I have been nice. I've cheered through the good times and been humble through the bad. But this game kills it. How can you freaking call a time out with a 1st and goal, one yard to the touchdown, talk the play over on the sideline when the communication between the OC and the QB is all messed up, and STILL have a botched play it falls directly on the shoulders of Jeff Davidson. If we had scored on that drive, we would have won this game. Period, end of story.
And then with 4:32 left on the game clock, a touchdown will put you in position to win the game, all of the sudden he gets pass happy when we have all 3 of our timeouts? How many times do I have to say this, we aren't the New England Patriots! We don't have a Tom Brady!
Run the damn ball! Feed the stud! That's the only way this team is going to be successful. To suddenly give Jake 20 pass attempts in the 4th Quarter just blows my mind.
It literally blows my mind.

I mean god, the players don't yell at Jeff for nothing.

Hey. it must be true. Fox has got to have pictures of Richardson with farm animals, to be around this long !!!!!!!

You all must have been watching a different game than I did. The loss was not the coaches or Delhomme's fault. The running backs turned the ball over, there were a ton of dropped passes (mostly by D-Will, though Smith and Jarrett had a couple too), and the defense got no pressure on Brees in the second half. Fox put this team in a position to win, and they fumbled it away in the end. Every loss sucks, but you all are talking like we got blown out by the Lions, not just barely beaten by the best team in the NFL.

the game has passed fox by.this is a q.b driven league.the jets, panthers, titans and dolphins are among the top rushing teams and they are a combined 9-20.running the ball only works if you can hit the play action pass.we cant even tell if moore , jarrett, and moose can play because jake is so bad.jake couldnt get the ball to randy moss and jerry rice.please, start moore.

I'm hurting inside. That's all I have to say about that.
Posted by: mr.garcia | Nov 9, 2009 10:41:06 AM
and why at the end of the game when it was 4th-and-whatever didnt we kick a field goal and then try an onside kick? Because by going for it on 4th down and not converting ends the game...they were down 10, not 7. Coaches blowing it, mismanaging the hell outta all these games
Posted by: havoc200 | Nov 9, 2009 11:36:01 AM
I hate it that folks are looking at D-Will to blame this on. Pleeze! This guy is the best thing that has happened to this team...EVER. Name me one person who has been more of a game changer than this guy. Breaking long runs for td's, first down machine.
The play calling SUCKED!! Running with success the entire game, and in weeks past. Then all of a sudden decide to start letting noodle arm start throwing the ball? What the hell? Too short, too long, too high. If we had a guy who could throw with any accuracy this wouldn't have even been a game.

Where the heck did Tyrell Sutton come from? And why did he get multiple carries instead of Stewart or DeAngelo? Not that he did badly, he actually gained some yards, but who is he? As usual, I agree the play calling sucks. Felt like we should have thrown a couple more times in the first half, even more frustrating.. why did we go to all passes in the second half on one possession? Lastly, I hope Hoover's back for next week.

Fox is the real idiot here. When will the idiot learn that in todays nfl you have to have a balanced attack, run run run and run some more is not gonna win you many games.Get Fox and Delhomme out of here.
