Far out in the desert, there was Jake's place

On Saturday, the day before the Carolina-Arizona game, we took a ride north of Phoenix to Sedona, where there are some breathtaking red-rock formations that sprout out of the desert.

To get there from Phoenix, you take I-17 North, which locals simply refer to as "The 17." ... Given the quarterback's jersey number where we're from, we simply called the highway "The Jake."

Then, upon arriving in Sedona, we spotted this storefront sign. The next day, Jake managed the game just fine as the Panthers defeated the homestanding Cardinals 34-21 to avenge a certain defeat from January.

This topic is a bit of a stretch for a relevant sports news article, yes? Jake's a fairly common name, after all.

I would have much rather preferred to see pictures of the rock formations that you saw this past weekend.

Jake will beat the Saints next week 250+ yards and 3 TD's

"Pantherheels"

Dude, Lay off the meth!! You must be hallucinating. He's not that kinda QB anymore. All we need for him to do is not kill the game for us! To be honest he didn't win this game, he just didnt lose it for us.

It is all about the freebies and kickbacks, isn't it?

Wow!! "...Williams, who became the Panthers' all-time leading rusher Sunday with his 158 yards, is now third in the league this season with 619 yards. He trails St. Louis' Steven Jackson and Minnesota's Adrian Peterson, who are tied for first with 784 yards. Jonathan Stewart (360 yards) is 13th."

"Fox said Peppers is becoming more acclimated to a different system put in place by new defensive coordinator Ron Meeks." ---Conversely, if that PUNK had is a$$ in summer camp, minicamp and voluntary workouts, he would have gotten acclimated much sooner!!

"Injuries elsewhere also forced safety Chris Harris to play some on the punt-return team." ---Maybe he should do that the rest of the way. Those coverage teams were on faiahh!!!

Seeing that this (Jake's injury) is the only way for some fans to get rid of the guy, it was one of the best high points of the game. That being said, it is good to hear his injury was not serious. Conversely, it is really horrible news knowing it was not serious enough to keep him out for for season.

If it were not for the trick play, a fake smoke, which I suggested to Fox two seasons ago on his talk show when the QB rotation was having a hard time connecting with Smith, Jake would have less than 40 yards passing an no TD's on the day! Thank goodness the rushing attack looked much like that of 2003, when Davis (and Foster) was plowing through those eight-man fronts.

GO BOJANGLES!!

Oh yeah, and before I forget...

I love how Kurt Warner choked on just desserts. He went out of his way to get into Jake's head with his fake and highly publicized pep talk (and I wonder how that got out, btw). I wonder, with a big smile on my face, if his six-turnover performance against the Panthers got into his head. That "karma" is a biatche!!

The Smith video on Panthers.com rocked. I always said Smith is the Allen Iverson of the NFL. Both him and Moose have had to be acrobats to make receptions through the years. BTW, I did hate how choppy and badly edited the video was. Did they really have to cut that much of it out? Notice how Smiths, "Jake, I like you as a person, but you suck as a QB" was gashed to hell (at about nine and a half minutes into the video).

we can beat the saints they have a horrible run defence if we get double trouble going and a couple of screens and some wildcats going and a couple of play action passes to steve smith we'll walk out 4-4 a game behind the falcons and then the saints might hit a slump and that when the panthers will just take over the NFC South because we cant run the ball the whole game and the saints will be 7-1 but if take some deep shots down the field then thats when we fuck up because jake will throw a pass that just isnt there...
