First Quarter Update: Panthers 7, Cardinals 7

Two scoring drives, one by each team, took up all but 47 seconds of the first quarter.

Carolina won the toss and struck first, going 74 yards in 15 plays on a drive that took up 7 minutes, 38 seconds. It was probably the Panthers' best, most balanced, offensive possession of the season.

Embattled quarterback Jake Delhomme completed 4 of 6 passes for 35 yards, including a key 17-yarder to Dwayne Jarrett, filling in for injured Muhsin Muhammad.

The Panthers had four third-down conversions on the drive, which resulted in a 6-yard TD run by Jonathan Stewart for a 7-0 lead.

The Cardinals countered immediately, driving 81 yards for a touchdown. Arizona had four plays on the possession that went 14 yards or longer, including a 14-yard TD pass from Kurt Warner to LaRod Stephens-Howling.

DeAngelo Williams' 77-yard run on the Panthers next possession put them in scoring position again as the period ended.

Sure is quiet around here. Yep. Quiet, quiet. Who were the two players getting all the hate this season? Oh, I forget...

I love that "Smoke and Go" route that Jake through to Steve Smith, that was the greatest play called all season by John Fox!

Also, in 1 play Sherrod Martin showed he's better than Charles Godfrey. He also had a nice hit, so he's obviously more physical.

Dwayne Jarrett has done good for the few passes Jake has thrown (thank God!)

I hope we continue this the 2nd half!
