Fox: Delhomme has broken finger in right (throwing) hand, Moore may start
Coach John Fox announced today in his weekly Monday news conference that quarterback Jake Delhomme suffered a broken finger on his right (throwing) hand late in Sunday's 17-6 loss to the New York Jets.
Fox said he became aware of the injury today, and that Delhomme apparently didn't know he'd be injured Sunday until he had pain and swelling today.
Fox said it's likely that backup Matt Moore will start out with the first team in practice Wednesday, greatly increasing the likelihood he'll start Sunday vs. Tampa Bay. While Fox wouldn't speculate on how long Delhomme could be sidelined, he made it clear Delhomme's status is uncertain for the foreseeable future.
Fox also said Delhomme was hardly the main person to blame for the Panthers' woeful performance on offense against the Jets, saying others on the offense played poorly also.
Other injuries sustained in the game included sprained ankles by running back DeAngelo WIlliams and receiver Dwayne Jjarett, and a sprained knee for defensive tackle Tank Tyler.

LOL... how convenient to suddenly have a finger injury after that terrible performance. I always said it would take an injury to bench him.

wow, just wow man. Just man up and bench the guy.

Jake broke the finger on a reach around on Fox. Fox is such a female. I mean really!

I don't know why, but I am still amazed that Fox can never give a straight answer to anything... I mean, say Jake played poorly, and name other names too... His answer is always, Jake was not the only one who played poorly... Aside from the interception off Smith's foot, the other interceptions were Jake's fault... 99% of te time you can't blame someone else for an interception... it is the QBs fault plain and simple. Delhomme, Fox and Hurney need to go...and the sooner the better. They can start rebuilding this year, and get a jump on other teams...

says he is injured, but still won't come right out and bench him for poor performance....5 more games and if Jerry wakes up, Fox and Hurniea will be gone thank the lord....

WOW. What a joke by Fox. It really is time for him to pack his sh@# and leave. I think we all know Jake DID NOT break a finger. Just say it coach, Jake sucks and needs to be benched.

Give everyone a chance at QB. Then at least they will know the heir apparent isnt even on the roster.

I happened to be watching the game and saw Delhomme clutch at his hand then shake it after he struck the helmet of the right guard and tackle as they were thrown back by the blitzing linebacker for the Jets. Evidently the coaches were not watching as they were not aware until Monday the hand was injured. Pitiful when you and your staff don't know a key player may be injured. Perhaps they were too busy with resumes, I hope.

What a cop out..Fox always has an excuse to take up for this sorry want to be football player. Why don't they both leave and then maybe we can get a good coach and quarterback. If you do leave pick up peppers on the way out of town.

I am waiting to see the slip on cast to cover the "broken finger" that Jake suffered. I imagine the conversation went like "Fox, your QB just broke his finger. Understand???"

Thank god he didn't say Josh McClown was going to start. That would definately have been it for my ace.
