Fox still circumspect about Peppers' hand injury

Panthers coach John Fox isn’t letting on about what the nature of defensive end Julius Peppers’ hand injury is, or how severe it might be.

“I could say,” Fox said Friday after Peppers played mostly on passing downs in a 24-17 loss Thursday against the Miami Dolphins at Bank of America Stadium. “But I probably wouldn’t.”

Peppers injured his hand two weeks ago against the New Orleans Saints and also played predominantly on passing downs against Atlanta last Sunday. Fox would only say last week that Peppers’ hand is “messed up.” But linebacker Jon Beason told reporters it was broken.

“Without being too telling, it does affect your play,” Fox said. “But he’ll work through it and we’ll work through it.”

Fox said he’s hopeful Peppers’ injury will heal before the end of the season. Peppers, who has seven sacks this season, hasn’t had one since the injury. He had a forced fumble against the Dolphins and was also penalized for a neutral-zone violation on a key third-down play late in the game that gave Miami a first down.

Isn't the hand injury obvious? He strained it while filling out the deposit slip for his weekly game check.

Please fire Fox before the next game.

People can be such idiots sometimes...I assume Gross broke his ankle, because he got tired of covering Jakes butt....Or Davis intentionally injured himself because he was having a break out year and was worried about going to the probowl..

Get off Peps nuts...He gets hurt and the crap is funny to people, yet hes still forcing fumbles and playing with a broken hand, while you sit here and talk smack about his paycheck..

Injuries to any player on the team, regardless of what it is...sure isnt something to laugh about!!!

Hurly, Fox and Delhomme need to go. I am a diehart fan to the Panthers, but it does not seem they are committed to when. Kudos to Peppers....I understand even more so why he wanted to leave....GO PEPPERS.....!!!!

I wonder why you can't comment on the Panthers website anymore. Could it be because fans are asking for Fox and Delhome to leave. Peppers has earn his money and is now...so Pep..smile all the way to the bank. Jake should give fans there money back from his guranteed money!!!!

These guys have all been playing their butts off lately. This means ALL of them. I was crushed when TD went down. I knew from his reaction it was bad. He has tremendous heart. JG went down doing his job. Things like that happen when you have 350 lb people constantly attacking you. Gross has been healthy throughout his career. JP has played like a bat out of Hades. His energy is up and his play has been great. Look at his face on the sidelines. If any of you were ever athletes, you would know how much this guy wants to be in there. Lighten up with your hate.

I forgot to mention....I have watched Jennifer post on here before. She is always heads up and right on the mark in her assessment. It's not because your a lady Jennifer...It's because you're sharp. Please don't take my compliment as sexist.

He had a million dallor off sides. Glad to see that our money was well paid. Trade him and see what we can get for him. If I could get a stick of gum for him right now...I'd probably take it.

If a bone is broken, it should be pretty much pain free by the next game. It won't be fully healed for about 6 weeks, but the pain is usually gone in 2-3 weeks.

No offense taken Steve and thank you...I just find it moronic, that when Pep became the Million "Dollar" (thats for Trey) Man" that he was suppose to become God...
And "our" money...just what percentage of your salary has gone to Peppers Trey?
Pepper haters dont phase me, thats why they chewed on their gum (quietly) the 4 weeks in a row he averaged, sacks, ff, and a pick six...even named Defensive Player of the week..Were we using their money to pay him then as well? Smiles!!!

i listened to the game on the radio and i honestly thought peppers wasnt playing because i didnt hear his name called till the third quarter.i hate what fox has made this team,a lifeless, soulless ,dull group of individuals.i cant even watch football because i compare other teams to the panthers and it makes me angry.how could we lose to chad henne at home.this was a playoff game.i refuse to watch until jake is benched. give moore a chance so you will know what you have for next season.you wait all season for this.its devastating.
