Halftime update: Jets 14, Panthers 3

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Reverting back to his early-season turnover problems, Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme threw two second-quarter interceptions, the latter setting up a touchdown with 28 seconds remaining in the half to give the New York Jets an 11-point halftime lead.

Delhomme now has 17 interceptions this season, establishing a new single-season career high for him with 5 1/2 games remaining.

The Panthers' only points of the first half came on a 40-yard field goal by John Kasay with 10:11 remaining in the half.

With 4:25 left, Delhomme tried a deep pass down the right sideline to Steve Smith, but underthrew him and Jets' cornerback Darrelle Revis made his second interception of the game.

New York drove to the Carolina 29, but turned the ball back over to the Panthers when defensive end Julius Peppers forced a fumble that linebacker John Beason recovered at the 26.

Three plays later, Delhomme tried a lob pass to Muhammad that was way off target and was intercepted by safety Kerry Rhodes.

That eventually led to Thomas Jones' 3-yard touchdown run with 28 seconds left in the half for a 14-3 Jets lead.

Both teams are 4-6 and trying to avoid a seventh loss which would almost extinguish any hopes of making a run to the playofffs.

if fox doesn't start moore in the second half, he should be fired on the spot.

PLAYOFFS???? (to quote Jim Mora)

John Fox is going to ride Jake Delhomme all the way to the unemployment line. I cannot believe what I am seeing. Jake sucks!!!!!!

Jake has the skills of a 3rd string quarterback at best and yet Fox refuses to take the human interception machine out.

Unbelievable. Have you watched the halftime highlights? They are toying with Jake's play like it's an NFL spoof. As Sterling Sharp JUST said...." and John Fox says Jake Delhomme gives him the best chance to win? Well Jake Delhomme is soon going to find himself cut and his coach fired."

Yes John Fox everybody sees it just like you do. Jake or bust!

Maybe another Delhomme contract extension Marty?

How many more interceptions does Jake have to throw before he gets benched?? Apparently he wants the int record back from Cutler today...

"Playoffs?! Don't talk about playoffs! Are you kidding me? Playoffs?! I'm just hoping we can win a game, another game!"

What a colossal mess this team is.

Will Fox really put Jake back out there for the second half? If so, they shouldn't wait until after the season.....Fox should be fired Monday if he puts Jake back out there.

Unbelievable. Why is Fox so friggin blind? Take Delhomme out. Please!

I am perhaps the biggest Jake backer in the world. I love him to death and have supported him starting every single game up until halftime. Foxy, PLEASE play Matt Moore in the second half. THERE IS NO POINT PLAYING JAKE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!! We need to see what Moore has (or doesn't).

Well there it is everyone, the guys on tv said that fox will keep Delhomme as the starter!

At least the Bobcats are playing well...

Moore needs to be put in ... just to make a change....how quickly we forget>>>>>>when Delhomme came in for Peete.

Posted by: sirpurr | Nov 29, 2009 2:43:15 PM

because of Jake we cant even beat the teams that are in the same shape as us.... right???

Posted by: Letha | Nov 29, 2009 2:43:57 PM

Now this is John Fox football!

Jake will be playing and he will throw more interceptions today. The defense is actually palying pretty good but we will waste this effort.

I like Jake....have been a supporter....but for whatever reason he cannot hit an open receiver anymore. He needs to be sitting. The fact that he isn't tells two things about Fox and Hurney. Stubborn and that they have failed to have a decent back up. How long have they been the brain trust? 8 years? No back up plan after 8 years? gets you fired in my world.

Fox should be fired today for playing Jake when he is no good at all. What is wrong with Jerry and the orthe guy they just hired, don't they have a say in this. Fox, bench Jake....put Moore in now. Moore can at least throw the ball the man where the numbers are, not on the ground and up in the air, like a leaf falling. Jake is not the man and Fox cannot see it. Put Matt Moore in now.

This team is the new Minnesota Vikings from the past few seasons. We're just missing a QB. Please draft one.

Posted by: Big Pat | Nov 29, 2009 2:50:20 PM

Well can the season end so we can get the over haul strated

Posted by: Telling Like It Is | Nov 29, 2009 2:51:04 PM

Jake is a shell of his former self. A change needs to be made to give the team some confidence. Matt Moore is not the answer. AJ Feely is not the answer. But a change is needed now. Go with Moore and see if he has a shot of being on this team next year. The new coaching staff will need some tape on him for evalaution purposes.

Posted by: Just Sad | Nov 29, 2009 2:53:38 PM

Good thing Jake has accuracy issues or they might have to put him on a suicide watch. No worries, if he tried to shoot himself he would miss high and to the right.

Posted by: cmo | Nov 29, 2009 2:53:52 PM

Empty seats, no food and beer sales. The life has been sucked out of this organization! It is time for a change. Good bye Fox, Delhomme, Marty, etc..... I will not spend another dime on this team until changes are made!!!!!!!

Posted by: donotgetit | Nov 29, 2009 2:54:07 PM

Please, please, please start Moore at some point. Isn't it obvious we are not going to the playoffs? At least let's see what Moore can do! There's no point in seeing what Delhomme can do anymore! We could have the answer to our qb problems on the bench if we gave him a chance!

Posted by: Elizabeth | Nov 29, 2009 2:57:35 PM

we can't draft one untill the second round, we gave away all of out first rounders...
