Pregame Panthers-Dolphins observations

-- The Dolphins' "wildcat" offense is getting lots of pregame attention because of the news that running back Ronnie Brown has been lost for the season with an injured foot. Miami will probably stay with the wildcat, with players like running back Ricky Williams and rookie backup quarterback Pat White running it. The Dolphins probably aren't ready to put the game entirely in the hands of starting quarterback Chad Henne, who has started six games and has four touchdown passes and five interceptions.

-- The Panthers running game gets a stiff test, especially with guard Mackenzy Bernadeau getting his first career start: Miami allows 3.7 yards per rush.

-- Panthers defensive tackle Damione Lewis says Williams, now 32, is one of the top 5 running backs he's ever played against (when Williams was younger with the Saints).

-- The Dolphins start a pair of rookie cornerbacks. Vontae Davis has two interceptions, one of them coming against New England two weeks ago when he out-jumped Randy Moss for the ball. That was impressive (but watch for Jake Delhomme to pick on Davis and Sean Smith). -- David Scott

Argh! Please don't use the words "Jake" and "pick" in the same sentence!

Miami 24, Panthers 31

That is if the Panthers can continue to play at the same level as the past 3 weeks.

First half Jack should throw the ball and set the run second half run the ball and play action pass. Get Miami out of their comford zone.

Now who in their right mind would want Jake to come out throwing??? What has happened all season when that has been the strategy? Need to keep their D on the field and ours off! We go 3 and out more often than not when he comes out throwing the rock!

Keep the no huddle and hurry up offense going... It kept the Falcons off balance last week.

The panthers should break out some of old fart hennings old play's and use them against his hotel loving self.Of course this wont happen because the line isnt used to the plays but it would be awsome to watch.

I don't mean to come off as a Jake hater, cause I'm not (all the time).

But the reason he looked so good at the beginning against Atlanta was the no-huddle COMbINEd with the fact that Atlanta has an AWFUL secondary. Tye Hill? Go over to the Falcons fan message boards. CB 2 has been a serious issue for them all year and go figure Delhomme attacked CB 2 with Muhsin.

But with that said, I think that the no-huddle DOES benefit Delhomme. We need to coach him to do some more dump offs to the RB or FB though.

I think tonight Delhomme goes 18-30 212 yds 1 TD 1 INT. Not that my opinion matters.

Vontae Davis has a lot of talent, but he's sort of a taller and bit slower Rodgers-Cromartie. They play a very similar style.

So I can see us hitting them with the smoke-and-go route with Smitty, but I can also see some MNF repeats where Smitty breaks off a slant route and Davis gets the pick.

Its freaky how similar these teams are though. I think we win if we shut down their run offense, our offense will score enough to win but I don't expect a field day.

According to WFNZ Steve Smith was in a car accident today and will not play. Keith Cornwall of CBS broke the story.
