The Panthers are the antithsis of the New England Paper Champions. A case in point would be the recent success of the Green Bay Packers's defense (except for when they played against Brette Favre's Vikings). Their defensive staff features Defensive coordinator (and former Panther head coach) Dom Capers and defensive lines coach Mike Trgovac. Kevin Greene, their linebackers coach gets an honorable mention for being a former Panther standout. Also, look at what Dan Henning has been doing with that Dolphins offense, and has made the Wildcat a househould reference.

On the other hand, all NE coaches under the current regime have likely sucked before they got there (Bellicheat-former Browns coach) or have been horrible since they left. Crennel, Weis, etc., etc...

I would say this is very telling on just how legitimate that franchise has been with its successes.

Which team would you rather be a fan of?

For sure not New England or Dallas.

The panthers are a classy organization, and they deserve to be an elite team. We will never (okay one year but besides that) be awful, but we're sort of like an improved Bills.

The Bills are stuck in an endless 8-8 dimension. They will always be a .500 team.

The Panthers are stuck as (on average) a 9-7 or 10-6 team. Sometimes slightly better, sometimes slightly worse. Its enough to keep the fanbase and excitement and it doesn't completely disappoint, but we are never satisfied.

We have a TON of great young players though. Martin, Davis, Stewart, Williams, Wharton, Gamble, Harris, Gross, Otah, Kahlil, Munnerlyn, Beason... these are all good players that have potential to be probowlers, and none of them have turned 30. Heck, the majority haven't even hit the start of their primes yet.

We need to be a bit more healthy, add a manageable WR 2 and a QB that plays safe.. and we're a potential 13-3 or 14-2 team.

(one more thing)

I can't ever remember a team averaging 200 rushing yards for SIX WEEKS not being at least 5-1. Most teams running the football that well are already declared SB champs.
