Answering your questions, Part II
Q. Did Fox save his job today? Or does he need to win out?
Posted by: JamesBrown | Dec 6, 2009 7:11:15 PM
A: It's too early to tell. It's obviously going to depend on how the Panthers finish, and their last four games are brutal (Patriots, Vikings, Giants, Saints). If he wins out, it would be tough to let him go.
Q: Do you Sutton is our long term answer at 3rd RB
Posted by: kenneth picklesimer | Dec 6, 2009 7:11:19 PM
A. He could be. He's been impressive, not only when he filled in at fullback against the Saints, but today. He averaged 6.3 yards per carry. They like him enough to keep Mike Goodson on the bench.
Q: What do you think the panthers could get for peppers in a sign and trade deal during the offseason? Would a first or second round draft pick be too much to ask for?
Posted by: Dan | Dec 6, 2009 7:12:58 PM
A: That wouldn't be too much to ask for. But that might have been the case last offseason, and Peppers didn't go anywhere.
Q: How close was deangelo to playing today and how likely is it that he plays next week?
Posted by: mike | Dec 6, 2009 7:15:06 PM
A: The Panthers keep that kind of info close to the vest. Won't know until Wednesday, when they practice again. They'll need him against the Patriots, though.
Q: Which DT will go on IR this week? Are there any DT's left?
Posted by: Wayne D | Dec 6, 2009 7:17:38 PM
A: The way the season's been going, who knows? Hollis Thomas, Damione Lewis and Nick Hayden came away unscathed today. Hayden even had a sack.
Q. A lot of empty seats today. I had Deja-Vu from 2001. If this keeps up, will Richardson make coaching changes like he did then?
Posted by: JamesBrown | Dec 6, 2009 7:23:13 PM
A. I don't think Jerry Richardson will make a coaching decision based on attendance (although Ws and Ls have a lot to do with that). -- David Scott

Wish you guys could ask Fox how he thinks his OC (Davidson) & ST coach has performed thus far. Also, all those bad routes run last week.....was that a practice issue or a morale thing?

Do you really think that Delhomme makes that big pass to Smith?
Posted by: Will | Dec 7, 2009 12:41:00 AM
He won't make a coaching decision based on attendance? Wow, and here I thought that having a fanbase was a necessity for an NFL franchise.

Nat, having an idiot fanbase is not necessary for a franchise. Panther fans leave en mass no matter. We really have nothing to complain about when you compare to Cleveland and Detroit. Those teams have sucked during our whole existance and look what the Panthers have done during that time.

What are the chances of Moore being the starter next year, with Delhomme backing him up? Moore has performed well everytime he's started and deserves a chance. This scenario would also give us a proven vet as a backup. I know we'd be paying a lot for a backup, but if he would be willing to negotiate his deal down to stay in Charlotte, it could be a good situation.

Moore is not the answer to Jake. I have watched him in every game he has played in or started. Not the answer. Don't forget we beat the Bucs with Jake as our starter already. Moore is not the reason we won that game It was the 3 interceptions in the endzone. Yes we won and I'm happy but a healthy Delhomme will never be a backup to Moore. GO PANTHERS !!

Ok, fair argument Mr. Garcia. However, Delhomme was not the reason we beat them the first time either. As the observer alluded to, we won "despite" him. His turnovers are killer and this defense is good enough to win some games, but if the opposing team starts every drive inside the redzone it doesn't matter. Moore SHOULD start over a healthy Delhomme (even though he wouldn't) as long as we can play field position with him under center. Jake makes our defense look bad by putting them in such bad situations, when they should be seen as the strength of the team.

Why couldn't Matt Moore be the starter? No one has even given him a chance. I will reserve judgement till after I see him play in the coming weeks. Troy Aikman was 1-15 in his first year at Dallas. I say give him a chance at least, can't be any worse than what Jake has done this year. Just my .02

Mr. Garcia you are wrong. It could happen. Jake COULD be Matt's backup. Never say never!

I know it's a ways off, but I heard speculation that the team is going to let DeAngelo walk after the 2010 season (RFA)becuase he is going to demand top 5 running back money and they have Stew, who obviously showed he can carry the load. Assuming Fox keeps his job and knowing that the run game is our bread and butter...do you see this happening?
Posted by: danarc | Dec 8, 2009 10:45:59 AM
DeAngelo deserves top 5 running back money. What they need to do is let Stewart go.Make Sutton the #2 back. He has better vision than Stewart and runs harder.

Its a hell in heaven to have a stable of RBs like we have. I like Goodson and Sutton but I dont want to loose Stew or Williams. Convert Convert Convert. Get Goodson in the passing game. Sutton in the return game and give Williams some Pepper money. Some good QBs in the draft this year. First round a DE (security against Pep and leverage for the fall). Second round a WR and snatch Garcia from the Eagletts (we have always had trouble against him). DT will be stacked next year, Davis back, Off Line Back, If jake comes back as starter at least let him audible. He seemed to do well at that.
