Delhomme out for Vikings game
It's official (again): Quarterback Jake Delhomme (broken finger) is out for Sunday's game against the Vikings. Matt Moore will make his third straight start.
Cornerback Richard Marshall (ankle) and running back Tyrell Sutton (thigh) are questionable.
Defensive end Tyler Brayton (concussion), receiver Muhsin Muhammad (knee), linebacker Na'il Diggs (ribs) and running back Jonathan Stewart (toe) are probable.
The Panthers got in a full Friday practice despite the bad conditions on their practice fields. There's a tarp covering the field at Bank of America Stadium. -- David Scott

Who cares Delhomo sucks!

Who cares about that, when are they going to fire Fox?????

It's very disappointing to wait months for the season to start only to have it flushed down the toilet by a stubborn, idiotic coach and his pal QB Pick6.

You people really need to get over this thing with Fox. Richardson is not going to fire him with all of the injuries this year, and the fact that he is owed $5-6 million next season. The fact of the matter is that we have been pretty competitive through it all. Basically the salary for a coach next year would be around $13 million if we went after Cowher. Not going to happen...deal with it.

You guys crack me up. Delhomme is the only quarterback that has gotten us to the playoffs 3 times. Before him, we were in the playoffs once in 1996!!! I agree he has been bad this year but show some respect. He has been a great quarterback on and off the field for years. We have made it to the playoffs every year he has played an entire season except for one. You all think that all that needs to happen is for Fox and Jake to be cut and than the Panthers will be awesome. Remember it took 6 years to find a quarterback to take us to the playoffs after Kerry Collins left. Delhomme has given alot to this Panthers organization and that shouldn't be forgotten just because he had a bad year.

Donna, I respect where Delhomme has taken us. You must not know what it takes to keep a team at the top. It's knowing when to make changes to stay at the top. Delhomme is done, most likely due to his surgery a couple years ago. It is Fox's fault for not finding the right people or missing on some picks to have a backup capable of running the team. Moore is good, not sure how good. But Delhomme isn't a starting NFL QB now. Face it

Good! Then there's a chance for victory after all.

hey donna- we all know what jake has done we are fans too. the fact is, this is a business, we pay good money to see results. therefore, if he isnt giving results, we DONT want him playing! and we DONT want to see fox week in and out forcing him into the starting position just bc HE thinks jake is best for the job. obviously he is not.
Posted by: mckenna | Dec 18, 2009 12:20:50 PM
That's the BEST news I've heard his week...J.R. better get his coaching job filled or at least put some "feelers" out there ,because he Skins are looking at Shanahan.

You act like this is news? Who cares if he starts? They're going to lose anyway. They have no offense, and that is offensive.

homey sounds like u are a true panthers fan. u should change ur name to homo
Posted by: mckenna | Dec 18, 2009 12:38:10 PM
This just proves this was a cover Jakes butt injury. He should be back by now. I am glad he isn't.

Thanks for the advice, mckenna, on the name change. I'll consider that if you consider that "fan" is short for "fanatic." I am not a fan. I follow the Panthers, but I am not a fanatic. I am realistic. If they win, I'll be happy, but if they lose, it won't be unexpected. You get that distinction?

Delhomme has never been a great QB he has had some great moments but in the NFL consistency is what counts. Here is how we can fix our loosing trend next year we must try to trade off some of our players so we can get some draft picks. I say cut Pep, trade Smith(while he is still worth something) maybe injury prone(stewart). Get someone in there who knows how to draft talent late in the draft!!!!

There's nothing like good timimg! The season is all but over for the Panthers. Why couldn't they have benched Dumbo when something good could have been salvaged from this year. John/Jake, take notes from Elin Woods. When the writing is on the wall, PACK YOUR BAGS!!!

you are not a fan if u only like us when we are good. thats called a fairweather fan. you get that distinction? see you when we are playing well again

It was eye opening to see a QB that is so accurate take apart a defense. Patton Manning was 12 for 12 at one point in the game. If Matt or Jake could actually be that accurate they have a spot on the team, but they aren't. It's time to let both go pick up a free agent QB and hope we get lucky with an accurate QB. I believe the coaching has cost us a few games this year but Fox deserves one more year considering all the injures.

Pretty sick of hearing about all the injuries...you can just null and void ANY defensive injury as they are the core of this team so far. No real injuries on offense as they were horrible from the start of pre-season. There is NO WAY you can blame injuries so please don't start that trend. And, "We have made it to the playoffs every year he has played an entire season except for one." Really? So I guess we were on track to make the playoffs this year? Tell me geniuses, what other coach in the country, yes, high school, college or pro's would've kept their QB in after the Bills game? Answer...NONE!!! If Fox stays the ONLY reason the Panthers will do well next year is because of the EASY schedule that we're gonna get. Same as last year. "Good" teams compete and win against the best, year in and year out. Not just when the schedule is in their favor. Other than that this is almost like an early Christmas present!! I hope Moore just lets go and just plays the game instead of thinking to much!
GO PANTHERS!!!

Delhomme had his time in NFL. We should have traded him and picked up Garcia a free agent who played amazing as bench for the Eagle's in the playoffs a few years back and also as starter for the Buccaneers. At the beginning of the season Eagle's picked him up totaling to 3 QB's and we can't even get one decent one here. Moore is becoming more confident and hoping he does well this week. With a big game this week it will be intresting to see how well he will be against the Vikings. This is a business and we can't let anyone bring this frachise down. This is our cities pride and we have to make sure that we are competitive in all areas weather it be in business, sports, and even education. We often times let a lot of things slide but at some point enough is enough. We have to be on top and with said lets see how our QB Moore does for the rest of the season. GO Panthers!!

Oh great...now that we know Jake is out for sure, I can feel comfortable betting on the under.

Who is Patton?
Posted by: Hooover45 | Dec 18, 2009 1:36:32 PM
hey jj you and donna can go follow jake or sit on the bench with him then. u, john fox, jake and donna can all have your own love affair over how jake is the best option at qb. meanwhile, we will be winning games next season with a different qb.
Posted by: mckenna | Dec 18, 2009 1:39:41 PM
I don't like our chances with either QB against that Vikes defense.
As for next year, the schedule isn't going to be easier. If today's standings hold, here's who we play:
HOME:
NO, TB, ATL, CIN, BAL, ARIZ, STL, NYG
ROAD:
NO, TB, ATL, PITT, CLE, SEA, SF, CHI
Unless we seriously improve our coaching and talent (especially offense), we're no better than 8-8 against that schedule.
