Fox: Delhomme still 'day to day'

Panthers coach John Fox said the swelling in quarterback Jake Delhomme's broken finger is down and he remains "day to day" for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.

Backup Matt Moore practiced with the first team Wednesday. The Panthers were inside due to the weather.

Other injury news:

Didn't practice: Delhomme, RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle), FB Brad Hoover (ankle), WR Dwayne Jarrett (ankle), DE Charles Johnson (pectoral), DT Tank Tyler (knee), DB Captain Munnerlyn (concussion), RB Jonathan Stewart (Achilles).

Limited: LB Na'il Diggs (ribs), WR Muhsin Muhammad (knee).

Full: G Mackenzy Bernadeau (knee).

-- Fox was noncommittal about whether he'd be interested in hiring fired Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis, who's a close friend.

"We have a full staff and that type of thing happens after the season," said Fox. -- David Scott

Uh yeah broken ...aaa finger....yeah that's what it is, a broken finger (pssst Jake! Jake! hold your hand and moan!)

At least weis knows how to run an offence. He would be a great O-cordinator for us. Imagine if bill cower and charlie weis were running things. That would be sweet!

Swelling going down??? Time for another reach around on Foxy!!!

Posted by: Dangburnit | Dec 2, 2009 2:39:21 PM

Weis is at home counting his buyout clause money and eating potato chips. He cannot be reached until season's end, or at least until he runs out of Chunky Monkey ice cream.

Weis won't happen b/c Fox better not be here to have the option of hiring him. If the Panthers allow Fox to stay on, I'll be pissed! He's never had back-to-back winning seasons. Yes, we went to the Super Bowl, but that was mostly players he didn't have anything to do with drafting. I'm tired of his boring and conservative system. We need new blood. GET OUT OF HERE FOX AND HURNEY!

Bringing in ANYONE to run the offense wouldn't change ANYTHING!

We basically ran Dan Henning out of town because of his play calling and the play calling did not change one iota. " A punt is a good play." John Fox

It's Fox who calls the plays! It is all Fox! On top of that, he has mortgaged the future every year by trading the #1 pick away twice, giving him 2 #1's yr before last, and we still suck!

He's a nice guy but he is awful as a head coach and his time has come and gone.

He should have been fired long ago but he's always had an excuse like Jake's hurt, Steve's hurt, Dan's hurt.....enough already!

If Richardson can fire the kids and ruin the family legacy, he can surely fire Fox....right?

It's time to grow some nuts and make wholesale changes.

Please don't play Jake - Give Matt Moore a chance to finish out the season. Fox - Your time in charlotte is over. We need a coach who can play agressive football not run up the middle every down. And stop talking Cower please people. Cower is just Fox in different shirt. Shanahan and Gruden both need a job

If Fox plays Delhomme sunday, I'm becoming a Bucs fan.

Posted by: Waawaa | Dec 2, 2009 3:32:56 PM

If Jake plays again at all this year, Fox should be fired. The definition of insanity!

Posted by: shellshocked | Dec 2, 2009 3:36:11 PM

The only thing wrong with our offense is our QB. We have the best RB duo in the league, a superstar WR, and 3 better than average tight-ends. When our QB can't read defenses or get the ball to the WR's, then it severely hampers any O.C.'s gameplan. Our defense has played well enough for us to have won at least 2-3 more games. The offense and special teams have held us way back this year, which has resulted in our current record.

all you cry babys just hush up, gaw do not know football, fox is not the problems here people come on here. Gaw it the players who lost the games this year; players like jake, dawayne, but I do agree about it time for the special team coach to be replace, we had sucj there for years, even before fox got here, let just say since scott had coach here, and they do need to get rid of jake peace

PanamaRed
That is what I been screaming, could not have said it better myself. It disgust me at the play calling and PURE Passive approach to each game, both sides of the ball.

heelsrule you right about one thing tarheels does rule also gaw mean people dumbno

IF Fox is fired, and that's not a given yet, I'm torn over who I would most like to see replace him. I like Cowher, and his philosophy is similar to Fox, hence the players may fit this style better. However, I would also not be sad to see Chucky at the helm. He LOVES an aggressive defense and think he has a lot in the tank. Either would be good, but I lean toward Chucky.
