Panthers put DT Tyler on IR, claim Landri

The Panthers' injury woes at defensive tackle, which started when Maake Kemoeatu was lost for the season during the first practice of training camp, continued Friday.

The team announced that Tank Tyler, acquired earlier this season in a trade from Kansas City, would join Kemoeatu and Louis Leonard on the injured reserve list.

Carolina traded with Cleveland for Leonard to replace Kemoeatu, then picked  up Tyler after Leonard was hurt.

The Panthers replaced Tyler on the roster with Derek Landri, whom they claimed off waivers from Jacksonville.

Landri (6-2, 290) was a 2007 fifth-round pick who recorded 34 tackles and two sacks before being released by the Jaguars this week.

Just a switch from offense to defense. When you take a look at the Saints Defense vs Carolina defense you can see that they have depth experience and solid performers. Their Defensive line has a couple of performing #1 draft picks plus some solid players. We paid way too much for our last #1 who at best is fair. With todays situation that is going to be a high draft choice which we will not enjoy. It is hard to say who is the beter linebacker Beason or Jonathen Vilma--They are both great Hands down Thomas Davis is better than any other linebacker they have.Just think if we still had Weatherspoon to add to that group.Oh we let him go and didn't pick him up when avaailable this year. Now comes comparing our defensive backs and safeties. Where were we when Sharper was looking for a team. He almost has more interceptions than our entire defensive backfield. The last impact safety we had was McCrae(?)he did a great job for us ror one year and we let him get away. Our safeties are bad.How many 3rd and long has our opposing teams converted-Way Too Many. The last good defensive back that we picked up was Ken Lucas and he did a great job the first few years. The Saints pick up McKensie who is a more physical player than Marshall who is being targeted by every opposing team and getting beat way to often. We are giving up over 25 points a game and a lot of this is in the second half. This will not win us too many games. Other teams make adjustments and we don't. We need more

This post is about your other story saying "kudos to fox for announcing Delhomme is out" Chandler how can you say "kudos" for Fox informing the opponent how to game plan before he has to? Whether or not it is obvious to anyone, you dont tell them what youre doing if you dont have to, you let them assume. Do you call your competition and tell them what youre gonna do 3 days before you do it so they can prepare? I expect talk like that from an average fan wanting to know but from someone thats supposed to be a reporter i expect better.

rrosko, I couldn't agree with you more. I still am upset at them letting Jeno James get away at a mere $3.5M/yr average salary. Sometimes though, the player has a say in which team he plays for as well. I mean, we really never know the whole story.

Back in the day, the professional gamblers would have an inside guy on the payroll for almost every team. If a player is out for a game, NFL rules require the coach to make that public. It's to prevent gamblers from gathering inside info and having an edge on people like me who bet $25 per game.

If you want an injury play DT for the Panthers.
