Smith's injury: Broken arm

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Panthers receiver Steve Smith broke his left arm after catching a 27-yard touchdown pass from Matt Moore early in the third quarter quarter of Carolina's 41-9 victory against the New York Giants.

Smith said he broke the radius (in his forearm) after being hit by Giants safety Michael Johnson and that he definitely won't play next Sunday in the season-finale against the Saints. He said it's too early to tell if he'll be available for offseason workouts that begin next spring.

Smith had five catches for 60 yards and a touchdown Sunday. He finishes the season with 65 catches for 982 yards and seven touchdowns. -- David Scott

It's a shame Matt Moore did't start at the beginning of the season.

Damn! May you have a speedy recovery.

Smith and the PANTHERS made a good showing today. THis team still has very good potential, when Jake is not playing... Too bad about Smith's arm, but he will be back next year.

Prediction for the 2010 NFL Season: If Matt Moore starts for the Carolina Panthers, then Steve Smith will be the #1 wide receiver in the NFL.

You fans are all idiots, don't you know that Jake gives the Panthers the best chance to win?

Signed, Darin Gantt (John Fox's boy)

My Superbowl Today, Well time to see if foxy grows a pair and Starts Moore next year.

Sorry, I did not mean to offend the Gantt family. I just got very tired hearing Gantt go on and on about how smart he is and how he sees practice everyday and that there is a "reason" that Moore doesn't start over bad Jake. Plllllease. Gantt and a few other sportswriters are cheerleaders. I am fine with Fox getting an extension, just wish we could get some local sportswriting talent in addition to Tom Sorenson and David Scott.

not limited to his, but the all around extent of this type.

Jake gives us the best chance to win as long as he is riding the pines

Hope the punk breaks his right arm too.

Nice game Panthers and a really fine performance by Bernadeau (sp) & the rest of the O line. Although I am not a fan of Coach Davidson, Ryan Kalil is correct - this coaching staff deserves to stay.

Hate Smitty missed the 1000 yd mark before he ended his season.

He and Moore were just getting in sync. Was a joy to watch....

Speedy Recovery Smitty....

Smitty threw several great blocks today. Catches the ball, breaks his arm, takes the hit then runs into the endzone and lands on the broken arm. Tough guy.

The Coaching staff should mostly stay in place. Receivers coach has been here too long, no development of younger players in quite some time. The special teams coach is questionable. Let's face it, the offensive coordinator is Fox's puppet......could be Syd Gillman and the offense would still lack imagination.

Get a real second WR and a real threat from the slot and the offense looks set. Offer Pep an outrageous contract and if he passes, let him go and get some depth. As good as he is they cannot afford him past the uncapped year that is coming up.

I know all this stuff cause I worship Darin Gannt. Did you know that he sees practice every day?

This is for Darin Gantt. The only reason Jake was starting for the Panthers is because he is dating the daughter of the owner. We would have won them all if Matt had started them all.

Who is responsible for us not making it to the playoffs this year? Delhomme and John Fox?

This team is playing well because Matt Moore has energized this team, not because of John Fox.

John Fox had Moore behind McCown. How has Fox earned the right to stay.

Now you can come work for me Steve at Carolina Tire. http://www.carolina-tire.com. Together we'll rule the world.

So did anyone see Peppers hyped up congratulating Moore on the sideline? I can't remember seeing that happen with Jake.

Exactly!
