Beason sets tackles record

Panthers linebacker Jon Beason set a new team single-season record for tackles this season with 169.

That topped the 160 he had as a rookie in 2007. Along with his 159 stops in 2008, Beason now ranks third in team history with 488 tackles. He trails only Mike Minter with 953 and Mike Rucker with 553. Dan Morgan had 452.

Also, the Panthers announced the signing of former Wake Forest center Steve Justice plus three players from their practice squad -- wide receiver Dexter Jackson, defensive back Marcus Walker and defensive end Eric Moore.

Jackson is a former Appalachian State star who was a second-round pick by Tampa Bay in the '08 draft.

Justice was a sixth-round pick of the Colts in the  '08 draft who appeared in eight games as a rookie. Indianapolis released him during the preseason.

One of the few Fox draftees who was worth the high pick. Got robbed of the Pro Bowl but that is OK, we know what we have in him.

I have a question...why is the CO saying 169 but on the website is says 142?

I like this team. If healthy this is a Super Bowl squad. This team has been dominant running the ball and throwing the ball of late thanks to Matt Moore. Why change anything.

Beason will get his ProBowl next year for sure just like DWill finally did.

"One of the few Fox draftees who was worth the high pick"

Elrod, that was a very ignorant statement. Since Fox has gotten here, they have done very well with every single one of their first round picks: Peppers, Gross, Gamble, Davis, Williams, Beason, Stewart, Otah. Where's the bust there?

Posted by: Reid | Jan 5, 2010 5:27:24 PM

fox is a moron, beason is overated, peppers, harris and gamble is too, the only play that is a beast on the defens eis kris jenkins, and he is hurt, so be it, i am done with panthers, they suck eggs all day!!! go J E T S!!!!

Elrod has shown he isnt very bright with his earlier posts, no reason for him to start making sense now.

I'm being censored for no good reason again!?! Communist capatalist scumbags!

HA HA! Be careful of what you wish for lame duck fans! Like everyone outside of this wretched forum has been saying, JOHN FOX WILL HAVE PLENTY OF OPTIONS... It's some of the ignorant Carolina natives that live by information they gather from the likes of the Sun News and Charlotte Observor that are (going to be) the losers. LOL!

It's just a matter of time before you boo-birds lose this franchise too.

BRING IN COWHARD and his one Superbowl victory. ...Embarrassing!

I'm being censored for no good reason again!?! Communist capatalist scumbags! THEY DID THE SAME THING TO ME LAST OFFSEASON! They locked me out of this site from the get-go so they can crank the BS propaganda machine of theirs and condition some of you about how wonderful Jake is and how valuable Poopers is. I was not allowed to post again until about the first game of the season, where they already had some of their groupies brainwashed about how it was Fox that wanted Jake back, etc. etc. THESE COMMIE SLITHERY SOB's ARE WHY THIS COUNTRY HAS GONE DOWN THE CRAPPER!!!

SYRPIS ORIGINIALLLY TRIED POSTING: HA HA! Be careful of what you wish for lame duck fans! Like everyone outside of this wretched forum has been saying, JOHN FOX WILL HAVE PLENTY OF OPTIONS...
