Panthers get active in free agency, sign ex-Jets WRThe Panthers finally dipped a toe in the free-agent pool Monday, even if it was the shallow end.
The Panthers signed former New York Jets receiver Wallace Wright. He's a special teamer, which they need. A native of Fayetteville and a former North Carolina Tar Heel, the 26-year-old Wright has eight career receptions.
The 6-foot-1, 201-pound Wright was a restricted free agent, but wasn't tendered by New York, setting him free.

ARE THE PANTHERS STUPID? GREAT WAY TO START FREE AGENCY BY SIGNING A GUY WITH ONLY 8 RECEPTIONS! 8 WHOLE RECEPTIONS! WHY NOT SIGN ANTONIO BRYANT OR AT LEAST SOMEONE WHO HAS MORE THAN 8 WHOLE RECEPTIONS IN THEIR ENTIRE CAREER! THIS IS JUST DISGUSTING!

Now we are talking! Who needs Julius Peppers, Damion Lewis, Diggs, Hoover, etc etc we have Wallace Wright! This will definitely take some heat off of Steve Smith and also make Moose expendable. Marty, you are a genious.....

Yeah and we have had great success with wide recievers in the draft! Kerry Colbert, Drew Carter, Dwayne Jarret are all great examples

Hmmm...former Tar Heel...8 receptions, Special teamer...It's a good thing we grabbed him when we could, before somebody else snatched him up. Y'all JUST KNOW he's a gamer!

"Are we in September already??? I'm reading what you guys are posting and it sounds like the Panthers already named the opening day 53 man roster, WTH???"
Remember when Steve Smith (the real Steve Smith) was a bad pick because he couldn't make it as an NFL receiver?? Remember when we needed to Draft stud RB while Deangelo Williams backed up Mr. Foster?? Remember when we were down to the Jags 17-0 at half-time?? Remember when we won against the Vikings in week one and finished 1-15??
Point is you all need to chill out!!! You don't see what they see and you sure as hell don't know what the outcome is going to be. And if any of you do, then maybe you should play the lottery more often, or move to Vegas for this matter.

Our special teams has sucked for years. We have a new special teams coach who wants to improve. What the prob? We are in the same boat as last year, "who's gonna play along side smith, hows are line gonna hold?". Difference being we got rid of hasbeens.

its only March...I didn't know the season already started. I know ALL of these moves have been awful but give it time, have faith and be positive. We will be fine. These young guns are going to surprise some of you. We will find better value later once others are released closer to the draft and season. It will be okay. Don't worry.

I wonder who their 1 pick of the draft will be.
Heres my projection, but i know im wrong:
Dt- Terrence C
WR- Gilyard, Tate( if there), Decker, Thomas, or Desmond B

What a bunch of freaking babies on the posting board!! He is a special team player that we NEED.... do you want to watch our return guys continue to fumble or get tackled after 3 yards? Don't blame the panthers for the observers ploy to sell papers by using the headline like that. Just stop the crying.. we have a DRAFT and we FINALLY have a little money to play with so just wait it out. Getting rid of some older players is always hard but the NFL is a young mans game so just get over it people!!

Simmer down...this is strictly a "tester" signee. Just like 2 yrs ago when we signed all sorts of OL'men. Let's let this preseason work itself out before we go crazy!
