QB Moore set to sign tender
Panthers' restricted free agent quarterback Matt Moore has decided to sign the team's one-year qualifying offer of $3.043 million, according to his representatives.
His agents have reviewed the offer and Moore, who has flown to Charlotte from his California home, is expected to sign the offer today or tomorrow.
"It's a done deal," said agent Lynn Lashbrook. "He's excited about getting started for next season. He did not want to wait around.
"He wanted to send a message to the community and the team. I just think it's a great win-win for both parties."
The news was first reported earlier this afternoon by The Oregonion.
The signing locks in Moore with the Panthers for the 2010 season. Carolina placed the highest possible restricted free agent tender on Moore last week to prevent other teams from pursuing him. It would've required teams to surrender first- and third-round picks if Moore signed an offer sheet the Panthers declined to match.
Moore could've waited to sign his tender until at least April 15. the deadline for teams to sign restricted free agents to offer sheets.
After tendering Moore last week, the Panthers released Jake Delhomme and declared that Moore was their starting quarterback. Moore was 4-1 in Carolina's late-season surge that resulted in an 8-8 finish. He took over as quarterback after Delhomme, who was 4-7, suffered a broken knuckle on the middle finger of his right (throwing) hand.
Moore threw eight touchdown passes and one interceptions in the final five games.
Lashbrook said Moore and the Panthers were "a good marriage."
"The carolina panthers have been a good match for him and he's been a good m atch for them," said Lashbrook. "It's an exciting time for (somebody who was an) undrafted free agent three years ago. As an agency, we're very excited."

Hope this works out well. I'm curious, though - does this mean he becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2011 (lockout issues aside)?

3 million for Matt Moore? not exactly a deal is it? I mean the guy played in games at the end with starters being rested for the playoffs. He's undersized and only has average arm strength. We need a real QB and another play making receiver with speed to get back to the playoffs.

The guy looked good last year, so to get him back at a very good price is a great move.

Bruce what are you talking about? Which teams rested their starters? Average arm strength? He only threw a 65 yard pass IN THE AIR and not with yards after the catch included! Hater, hate on! Which other QB with these talents are you so high on?

Matt just say no to bojangles.
Jake was and will always be a backup. He should have been released 3 years ago. The reason he cried was because Jerry blindsided him. Too bad he wasn't holding a football when he was told I bet he would have FUMBLED it. HIT THE ROAD JOKE AND DON'T YOU COME BACK NO MORE.

MATT MOORE! YES!!! New era, New QB, New HOPE!!! Matt, you have my undevoted support and best wishes. Now, let's kick some NFC South Ass!!!

Jake was a "backup" who led the Panthers to 2 NFC championships and a Super Bowl appearance.
He certainly had issues last year, and needed to be pulled sooner than he was (that was Fox's mistake).
I remember a few years ago the Rams got rid of a quarterback they said was finished. I believes he plays for the Cardinals now and has their offense near the top of the league.
Best of luck to you Jake. You are and have always been a class act.

How can u say for this yr teams just rested their starters for the playoffs?
As i recall the Bucs was playing to be competitive and to get wins.
The Patriots play their starters all yr to secure a playoff spot. If it wasn't for the BS pass intefernce that gave NE their 1st TD, they probably would have lost.
The Vikings was playing catch up to the Saints of getting the #1 seed in the NFC. They never rested their starters becuz they needed to clinch a playoff spot.
The Giants was playing for a playoff spot. Which the Panthers torch them at their last game at Giants stadium.
Only the Saints that were the team decided to rest their starters.
4 out of 5 games this yr, teams was playing all of their starters.
Throughout Matt M starting career only 2 teams rested their starters the BUCS(07) and Saints (09).

The only team that rested starters was the Saints. And when we played the Saints how many of our starters were injured & we had back up players in for them?
