Some thoughts on Brady Quinn
Some thoughts from around the Internet on Brady Quinn (left), who is on the trading block in Cleveland as former Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme visits today:
From ESPN's Adam Schefter: The development isn't surprising. Quinn has been so inaccurate (52.1% completions in 14 career games) that Cleveland would probably be happy to take a late-round pick for him.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Denver Broncos had some interest in getting Quinn last offseason but it isn't clear if that interest still holds.
From The Lorain, Ohio, Chronicle-Telegram: Quinn arrived with such promise. He was the golden boy from the Golden Dome. If it wasn’t enough that he was from Notre Dame, he was raised in Columbus as a Browns fan.
From Chicago Now's Notre Dame blog: It is safe to say that Brady Quinn's career has been a disappointment since he left South Bend. Quinn was projected as an early first round pick in the spring of 2007, instead he fell all the way to 22nd where the Browns traded picks with the Dallas Cowboys to take the former Heisman Trophy finalist.
And, on his possible destinations, Chicago Now says about the Panthers: This is a bad quarterback situation, we saw the degression of Jake Delhomme over the past couple of seasons and Panthers fans know Matt Moore isn't the answer.
The questions: Are the Panthers interested? Should they be?

"Panthers fans know Matt Moore isn't the answer"
Where did this writer get that information from? Matt Moore may very well be the answer. What Panthers fan doesn't think he may be the answer?

Chicago Now says "Panther fans know that Matt Moore isn't the answer". I'm sure that was derived from in-depth research ;-)
From what I've seen here, most Panther fans think Moore should start under center this year. He's the best option for working within the leagues best running attack.
I think we definitely could use a veteran back-up like Todd Collins, and perhaps a flyer on Qinn might not be bad, but Moore is the man unless he proves otherwise.

Wow do these so called analyst can now read minds.
If given a fair shot, Matt M doesn't have to do much but to make accurate throws and not turn the ball over.
What makes them think Brady Quinn will do so much better?

Matt Moore is 7-2 as a starter and had a 7-2 TD to INT ratio last season. Sounds pretty damn good to me. I think Jake Delhomme wrote that article

Forget Brady Quinn, he's a project.. We need Derek Andersen to come in and compete with Matt .. That should bring out the best in both, plus DA has his biggest success in 07 under our current qb coach rip scherer .. Either QB will do well in this system.. both have strong arms, DA has more experience, but Moore has the edge because he's been in our system longer ..

This article is just weird! If the Browns are willing to give Quinn away, we should take him. It is sad, with all of the media attention they still cannot find out what the Browns are asking for him. The browns are a below avg team with major inconsistency. If the Panthers had any confidence in their ability to "coach" players then they should take him. Also, bring in an established older veteran to help mentor both him and MM. With the running game we have and a good O line he would be a better player. He is not as shell shocked as Carr was, he is still salvageable. MM and quinn would be two very good QBs in a couple of years. If the panthers are not going to take quinn then bring in Anderson to compete. They would not have to break the bank on either one of these players. Did the panthers not learn anything...they never brought anyone in to challenge Delhomme. NO, I AM NOT SAYING ANY OF THESE QBs ARE THE NEXT COMING OF MONTANA, BRADSHAW, BRADY, OR MANNINGS!! Contrary to the many great Monday morning QBs on these comments, unless the Panthers have written off the next two years, they will need to bring in a couple of players of quality...even if it is for backup positions.

Is anyone else reminded of the 2001 season? You know, when we let go an aging Steve Beuerlein to make way for Jeff Lewis... whom we promptly released before the start of the season so that we could go 1-15 that year?
I know, I know, they're not the same... but Matt Moore isn't exactly a proven commodity and Jake was actually playing pretty poorly, not just getting old.
still, I do wonder if 3 games into the season we'll wish we had Jake back. And I GUARANTEE you that Jake has a season or two left in him.

This Panther fan thinks Matt IS the answer. We still have Hunter Cantwell on the roster to push Moore, just bring in a vet to mentor both. Maybe before it is all over with, Jake can come back CHEAP!

Does anyone know what Quinn would cost in a trade? I keep hearing he is available, but no one will want him if the price is at all high.

We could have drafted Quinn, but we decided not to and now he's on the trade block... I think that's all we need to know...

I think Matt Moore is going to be a solid QB. Time will tell how solid though. I am a diehard Panther fan and I have lived in Cleveland for the past two years. By geography, you can't help but stay in tune with Browns football while in that area. Believe me, Brady Quinn is NOT something we want on our team. The Browns were a bad team all around but watching him flounder around in the pocket and then do very stupid things outside of the pocket makes me sick to my stomach. He will get picked up somewhere on potential alone but I pray it isn't by us.
