Ex-Panther S Teal signs with Seahawks

    Former Panthers S Quinton Teal signed with Seattle Wednesday, giving him an opportunity to carve a new niche for himself there.

    There was a potential opening here, once Chris Harris was traded to Chicago Tuesday, but his agent was well toward an agreement with the Seahawks days ago.

    Teal, a former undrafted free agent from Coastal Carolina, spent three years with the Panthers, mostly as a special teamer.

    He was a restricted free agent, but wasn't tendered by the Panthers. He found a landing spot in Seattle in part because the Seahawks have two former Panthers scouts in their pro personnel department.

    Carolina enters minicamp this weekend with starters Charles Godfrey and Sherrod Martin, journeyman Aaron Francisco and sixth-round pick Jordan Pugh at safety, along with undrafted rookie Matt O'Hanlon from Nebraska.

I was just wondering about him after hearing about Chris. That is a shame. I was always pulliong for Teal. I would imagine that the move to Seattle will be good for him though. Still, Martin at FS and Godfrey at SS---that should be fun to watch!

I will miss Harris and his hard hitting style but Martin and Godfrey should do just fine.

harris was so focused on the big hit that he actually missed a lot of tackles, godfrey and martin may actually be an improvement

Oh no! what am I ever going to do with my Quinton Teal jersey! Just kidding...(I don't own one).

It makes a lot of sense to tender CJ 'i've never done anything' Wilson from the defensive backfield and let Teal go, who has started games. What a joke. This team is sinking faster than the Raiders.

And give me a break, the people that are excited about Godfrey. You mean Toast? How many times has he been burned on deep balls. That guy is pathetic.

i thought godfrey played very well the 2nd part of last season.the light seemed to come on.it was another good move.harris hasnt been the same since 2007.this williams is no stiff.at the very least he provides good depth at l.b and a solid special teamer.he had 19 tackles in one game last year.hes just been stuck behind briggs.good move hurney.

Hi!!
My pre-final roster (59 players) would be:

* QB: Moore, Clausen, Pike
* RB: Williams, Stewart, Sutton, Goodson
* FB: Fiametta
* WR: Smith, LaFell, Edwards, Jarret, Moore, Wright, Gettis
* TE: King, Rosario, Barnidge
* OL: Kalil, Otah, Gross, Wharton, Bernadeau, Robinson, Schwartz, Petitti
* DT: Tyler, Leonard, Irvin, Johnson, Hayden
* DE: Brown, Brayton, Johnson, Hardy, Taylor
* LB: Davis, Beason, Williams, Connor, Anderson, Norwood, Culberson
* DB: Gamble, Marshall, Munnerlyn, Wilson, Stanford, Witherspoon, Goodfrey, Martin, Hudson, O'Hanlon, Francisco, McClin, Pugh
* ST: Kasay, Baker, Hansen.

Probably released: 3 DBs (McClin, Pugh, other) 1 WR(Wright), 1 DT(Hayden) or DE(Taylor) and 1 LB (Culberson).

In my opinion the big question is according to DBs.

raydaz, Landon Johnson had a lot of neat tackles on a crappy team too before coming here. How'd that turn out?

forget the panthers, they will be terrible, maybe 3-13 or 4-12 at best, the panthers suck, charlotte suck and the state of nc sucks, that about sums it up in a nutshell, let's go falcon's all the way to the super bowl for 2011
