Bears blog: Predict Peppers' sack total

A Chicago Bears blog has set odds for Julius Peppers' sack total for the 2010 season. Who knows Pep better than Panthers fans? How many sacks should this modern-day Monster of the Midway have this season? And which Panther will have more?

Peppers greatest value might be in the double teams he draws, freeing up the DT's (Tommie Harris and Marcus Harrison), and other DE more.

Peppers may only get around his average of 10 sacks, but his presence may allow the rest of the D-Linemen to post and extra 10-15 sacks. Maybe DE Mark Anderson will even return to something more like his rookie 12 sack production.

More than the panthers whole defensive line!

I think Brown and Johnson will both have 8+ sacks this year. Pep will get around 10. Maybe more for Pep hes gonna try and prove he does not quit on plays. So they will get a good year from him this year.

Don't you writers have something better to write about? I'm one of the Panthers fans that didn't want to see Pep leave. He's a Bear now. So this question that you're posting is a waste of time. Most fans, including the writers talked about Pep in a negative way when he was here anyway. The writers should be writing about which DE they think is going to fill Pep shoes.

I say Charles Johnson posts 9 and Everette Brown posts 10.5. Think of the Colts defenses. Meeks has what he wants to give the Panthers one of the quickest and most productive units in the league.

FaithandTruth - the double-teams are a myth. Pep was rarely double-teamed the last 3 years as word got out that he took plays off. He'll be a monster the first half of the year as he strives to prove himself to his new team. But, like I said on the Bears blog, he will eventually get bored and take plays, or whole series, off. I think he'll get 12 sacks this year - in about 10 "max effort" games.

If Everette Brown and the young DTs can prove to be at least halfway decent, Beason is going to get 14 sacks.

The Bears will be lucky if Peppers cracks double digits. With no new contract to play for, what is his motivation now?

Everette Brown will have 11...Another home bred beast!

Who cares about Peppers? I would like to see 10 out of Brown, 7 out of Johnson, and 4 out of Brayton. To get real crazy, 6 out of Hardy?

Peppers is going to blow his knee out in training camp and finish the year with a big goose egg in the sack column.

He'll set a personal record for sacks this year. He finally seems motivated.

You all are forgetting - Peppers will now get to play the Packers twice a year... Look what that did for Jared Allen's numbers last season. I'm going with 12 sacks for Peppers, but 7 will come against the Packers.

Is Peppers going to say "I have my money and I am happy" or will he go out and have a great year? I will go with 13 sacks.

Tyrone, well said. This online tabloid really loves to stir things up, and some fans hate it. I wish they would get a clue already.
