Moore's early take on QB battle

Panthers quarterback Matt Moore has started a blog and today posted an update on how he feels about the team drafting two quarterbacks and how last weekend's minicamp went. Enjoy!

Why is Matt Moore having to blog? Between the three of you, Fowler and Sorenson can't you are write something? There should be new columns, analyses, and observations daily. Use the following ideas (free of charge)

1. Who will the Panthers prioritize in terms of signing after a labor agreement?

2. Does Marshall fit into their long term plans?

3. Why Bill Cowher would not work in Carolina.

4. Early thoughts on a 2010 roster. What it may look like.

5. Why Pike would be harder to stash on the practice squad then Cantwell.

6. Why it is better to move on from older players a year early, rather then a year late (what the Panthers are now doing).

7. Is Jerry Richardson leading the owners stance against the players?

8. What the owners want in a labor agreement.

9. Players. See number 8.

10. Was Clauson a telling sign of Fox's future?

11. Camp/roster battles.

12. What we learned after this past weekend.

After reading the comments above, I agree that there is plenty to write about, and our Observer is doing a rather poor job of covering the Panther topics.

They always do a bad job. It is what it is.

I have been reading the carolinagrowl.com It has articles worth reading.

Posted by: JAY | May 4, 2010 3:46:28 PM

13. Is Duke Robinson being considered for starting at RG?

14. Will Edwards finally give us a WR that plays special teams?

15. Is Gettis a special teams player? Did he play any of ST coverage during OTA's?

16. Will McClain and Stanford battle it out for the 5th corner spot? Is Marcus Hudson going to be caught in the CB numbers game?

17. Excluding Smith, Edwards, and Lafell what will the 4th and 5th WR position look like?

18. What is the best case/worst case for the 2010 season?

19. What players have the best chance to make a big, unexpected contribution this year?

20. Is there a chance of adding other vet. players through FA, or will they take 53 guys that are currently on the roster?

WFNZ is the only place to get news that is not influenced by the scared panther writers or talking heads. Listen to Frank and Buck from 12:00 - 3:00. They are not afraid to tell the truth both good and bad about the Panthers. Unlike this paper and blog they don't talk about Joke Glacomma everyday.

Anyone else want to see Dwayne Jarrett sent to Coach Robinson at USC-North (Seahawks) for a sixth round pick next year?

Posted by: GooseCreek | May 4, 2010 4:58:18 PM

He showed his stuffed the last qtr. of of "09". He just needed a QB with some moxy !!

Posted by: Nasty704 | May 4, 2010 5:23:46 PM

@ GooseCreek

Lol i can see us getting a 3rd or 4th round pick for Dwayne J. Only if they consider trading him

Especially before the Seahawks great draft, they traded this yr 2nd rounder, and next yr 3rd for a QB who never played a regular season snap in Charlie W.

Posted by: adam carter | May 4, 2010 5:52:59 PM

are you kidding? A third or fourth rounder for Jarrett?

The guy has one TD catch. He isn't going anywhere unless he improves this season...

Posted by: Mav | May 4, 2010 6:26:51 PM

I'm confused what Jarrett's knocks truly are? I heard he has a hard time getting separation from the line and DBs, but we rarely run 3 wideout sets. So how can he be evaluated as far as in a game. He was deactivated for a better part of the season. He had to beat out Moose for a starting job, and we all know Fox's unbridled loyalty for HIS players.

To be honest I'm not so sure this team can determine a good reciever or not due to the conservative schemes that are run. Check our track history our best WRs came from a former coach or free agency.

@ Mav

Charile W never played a regular season snap, and u seen how the Chargers were able to get a 2nd rounder this yr, and next yr 3rd. From the Seahawks

We all seen stupid trades over the yrs. U sure got to be kidding yourself.

Its just a thought, i never once said it would happen.

"...just remember the immortal words of hall of fame baseball executive Branch Rickey, who once told his Brooklyn Dodgers, "Gentlemen, I prefer the errors of enthusiasm to the indifference of wisdom."

That statement could easily apply to the new look, younger and faster 2010 Carolina Panthers!

Mick Mixon is the play-by-play voice of the Carolina Panthers."

Mick nailed it!

What a joke. All those questions posted? Anything they write would be pure speculation and then the same people demanding they write it would jump on them for that.

It is not even training camp yet. These are the summer doldrums. Happens every year. I worked for two years blogging about the NFL and this is the absolute worst time of year to try to write much of anything real in most teams cases. If you can write real news it ain't good for the most part.

John, you sound like a real winner. Then why do they need 5 guys covering the team? Steve Reed puts out more info then these 5 combined. Reed is in a much smaller market, yet produces more articles. And speaking of speculation, that is what a paper does they columnist and beat writers, one observes and the other speculates.

You're preaching to the choir, my friend. Charlotte writers are the worst. The Carolinas have the worst sports coverage in the nation...

Posted by: Dan | May 5, 2010 10:34:33 AM

Hey huys, lighten up on sports writers, ok? I love sports writers!

In Buffalo, the Rochester paper does a better job of covering the Bills than the Buffalo paper. I guess it's just the "home team" paper doesn't want to p!$$ anyone off, while the out of towners don't have to live there.

Posted by: Marty H. | May 5, 2010 12:37:29 PM

I don't disagree with that. However, if the team never puts any inside information in the paper, what is the point of having such a "great" relationship with the front office?

Posted by: Steven | May 5, 2010 12:48:31 PM

Better food in the press box, maybe?

Posted by: PTR | May 5, 2010 1:54:47 PM

Good one!

Posted by: Steven | May 5, 2010 2:12:22 PM

You folk's dont know horrible sports writers until you read the Daily Oklahoman out of OkC,OK.Sure the Observers may not be great or even 3 stars, but trust me there are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy worse.

Posted by: GhostOfSparta | May 5, 2010 4:46:05 PM

Maybe I should rephrase my position. I'm not going to say the writers are bad; just that, from the frequency of posts among three people, it seems like good work if you can get it.

Posted by: PTR | May 5, 2010 5:31:49 PM

Well Steven thank you I feel like a winner.

And around here when writers speculate they get trashed. Exhibit A - when they had the temerity to cover Armanti Edwards people went nuts. They complained about covering someone not on the team and speculating the Panthers might draft him. "He's a nobody why are you writing about him?"" I never heard of him who cares?" On and On. And of course now he's on the team. That is just the first example that springs to mind.

Most of the people who comment here have absolutely no clue what the hell they are talking about and they prove it with every post. Their only purpose seems to be to trash the writers.

THEY SHOULD FIRE THE BUMS AND HIRE STEVE REED.HE GAVE ME MORE INFO IN 1 BLOG THAN IVE GOTTEN IN 5 YEARS WITH THE OTHER WRITERS.
