Tuesday update: LB Davis takes a spill

The Panthers have to hold their breath for the first time this offseason, as LB Thomas Davis walked off the field with a trainer following a spill on the practice field.

Davis was backpedaling during an individual drill when he slipped and went to the ground. Moments later, he walked off the field with head trainer Ryan Vermillion. There was no update from the team on his condition, though there was a sense that the injury wasn't major.

Davis has come back remarkably quickly from last year's torn ACL, and recently ran a 4.47-second 40-yard dash during the team's testing day.

-- QB Tony Pike finally made it back to work. He's been sidelined the first two weeks of OTAs by a rule that prohibits players from schools on the quarter system from joining their teams until their class graduates.

Pike finished up his exams and got here, just in time to be thrown into no-huddle drills.

He's noticeably behind, but they're confident the sixth-rounder can catch up quickly.

Good Lord, hopefully this is NOTHING!

Let's just sit this preseason out, TD.

Not a Panthers fan.

But let Davis recover 100% from the knee injury. OTAS are pointless anyway, its easy to run straight line, but back pedaling and running sideline to sideline is the hardest thing to do.

Hopefully he'll be fine and ready to go for training camp. With our inexperienced D-line, we need TD and Beason to be absolute beasts this year.

Panthers Blow!!! Ranked 30 on NFL.com

30. Panthers -- There is bad karma in Carolina. There is still talent and a lot of gritty players, but a lame duck coach and underlying morale issues could undermine this season.

LOL, you think there weren't morale issues last year when Jake was throwing TD's....to the defense? When Peppers was getting paid 16mil and not producing up to that level on the field? Really? Who knows what this season holds, we'll find out in Sept.

dang they've got us 30th??....a bit of a stretch I think.

Can you say last in the division. Lets be realistic. The panthers have no depth!!! no depth!!!! Wake up

JD, if you hate the Panthers so much please go to a Saints, Falcons, or Bucs site.

Secondly, you want to talk about depth? What happens if Brees or Ryan takes one bad hit? Every team is one play away from playing a 4th round rookie.

Damn, TD news is concerning! I hope he is ok. The coaches better rest him up till the later part of training camp even if it was just a minor injury.

As for being ranked 30th... you have to take these guesstimates lightly. Regardless, we always seem to perform well as underdogs. Let everyone think we are terrible. We shall see come September!!

Hey JD, the guy on NFL.com who ranked us 30 also ranked the Chargers no. 1. No. 2 Ravens & No. 3 Cowboys. This guy doesn't know what he is talking about. And we do have depth. What positions are we lean at?

JD, if the Panthers blow so much, WHY ARE YOU EVEN HERE !!!!!
