Panthers reach agreement with Clausen
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Carolina Panthers avoided any potential holdout drama by
reaching an agreement on a four-year contract with quarterback Jimmy
Clausen.
The Panthers and Clausen's agent, Gary Wichard, negotiated
through the night, eventually reaching a deal that will allow him to
report to camp on time today.
Clausen's four-year deal could pay him up to $6.3 million if he hits a package of incentives, according to a league source. The deal also includes a fourth-year escalator potentially worth $2.8 million. Including his first-year salary, the deal includes $2.533 million guaranteed.
Clausen is expected to arrive in Spartanburg to sign his contract this afternoon.

Perfect! All rookies are signed and everyone is healthy except Thomas Davis. Let's hope we have a productive camp, with everyone staying healthy, and see if we can shock the "experts" who think we're going to lose 13 games just because we have players they haven't heard of.

Darin: "good job Marty, way to get the deals done"
Marty [gruff] "well, we like him, thought he had first round talent, we were lucky get him"
Darin: "What are the terms of the deal?"
Marty: [gruff} "We don't terms of the deal in public"
Darin, Is that what it is like dealing with Hurney? I bet as a reporter you really hate dealing with him.

Remember when three guys worked on Inside the Panthers? Looks like the Observer trimmed the fat. Now if they can just get a picture of Gantt that doesn't look like he just farted, they'll be making real progress.

Falcon fan please go away. I know that you are full of your self after finally posting back to back winning seasons for the first time, but can't you go to the AJC and bother those folks?

Good to see everyone signed, as far as geting quotes from Fox-Hurney forget it. I honestly believe that they are not so much evasive, but have nothing interesting to say. Just two very boring guys who don't have the charisma to speak to the press.
Clausen will sit on Sundays as he (and all rookie QB's) should. Moore is a very good QB (it's recorded fact) and baring injury will keep the job.

Steven, I don't expect that the Observor brass are "miracle" workers. And those who criticize Pantehr leaders for not saying anything to the public at large...
I do agree with Gnatt on one thing, this will be an interesting season.
