Panthers trim five from roster

To get to the 75-man roster limit, the Panthers made five moves Tuesday.

As expected, two of the slots came from linebacker Thomas Davis being placed on reserve-PUP and defensive end Hilee Taylor being waived-injured.

They also placed WR Wallace Wright on injured reserve and waived wide receivers Dexter Jackson and Oliver Young.

The loss of Wright is a huge blow to special teams, and creates opportunties for guys such as Charly Martin, Kenny Moore and David Gettis

They still have 22 more cuts to make Saturday to get to the 53-man regular season limit.

The Panthers are still running low at CB, with Richard Marshall (knee), Captain Munnerlyn (calf) and C.J. Wilson (concussion) on the sidelines, along with DE Tyler Brayton (knee), WR Trent Guy (hamstring), RB Tyrell Sutton (shoulder), FB RaShawn Jackson (foot) and RT Jeff Otah (knee).

I wish they would IR Rashawn Jackson as well. He looks like he had as much or more potential as Fiametta. I don't think the Wallace Wright loss is that big of a blow. As bad as our Special teams have been so far I didn't notice him making much of a difference. He doesn't return kicks or punts and I don't remember him making any big special teams plays.

They need to keep CJ Wilson. I've seen him as one of the rumored players to get the ax but depth at CB never hurts. Gamble > Marshall > Munnerlyn > Hudson > Wilson at CB

Trade Smitty for Jake Delhomme.

Well my boy Charly Martin still has a chance, although its a very small one and I dont think it will matter ,he still has a chance to make the roster.

Darin,

come on player? what about Trent Guy

Steve Smith said he was the most impressed by Trent Guy and it showed on Saturday night. Trent Guy could be the punt return guy until AE can get up to speed, plus he showed some all-around explosiveness, i like this guy

give armanti edwards a little more time and he will prove that he was a good investment for the panthers. he's still got a lot to learn making the change from college qb to the pros and learning a new position but i believe if the management and fans will give him a little longer to make the transition he will become one of their better players.
