Wrapping up a hot Tuesday

The Panthers just wrapped up perhaps the hottest practice of camp (not an inconsiderable feat), going in full pads two days before their preseason opener.

Panthers coach John Fox said the heat index number he heard was 108, and judging by the reactions of players that seems right.

DT Ed Johnson had to be hauled off on a cart with what Fox termed "heat sickness," and the team was generally dragging by the end of the session, which was cut short by at least 10 to 15 minutes.

There wasn't as much contact as other afternoons, partially because they're still short on numbers and they want to save something for Thursday's trip to Baltimore.

-- A day after we wrote about TE Jeff King, Gary Barnidge stood out with a few nice grabs. He's a taller target, and smooth in the passing game, but not nearly the blocker King is.

-- WR David Gettis also flashed, showing more comfort than he did in the first week, when he looked a little behind.

-- DT Corvey Irvin's also beginning to exert himself a little more, and they'd love for him to be a factor. He has the kind of quickness inside they may lack otherwise, so his development would be helpful.

What about D. Jarrett? Poor reporting!

I can see it now, three players hurt in opening fake game, Fox says "Well it is what it is I guess. Given hindsight, I probably would not have practiced in pads Tuesday, but I can't change that now."

This coach is the single biggest reason we will be a joke in the NFC this year. The man just does not get it. His time her is OVER. The players quit on him three years ago, and with good reason.

Yup which is why panthers will suck again this year couldnt have said it any better myself BERNZ-IS-DERANGED, smart man.

You guys would rather have a Josh McDaniels or a Rex Ryan. Fox is the man for this team. The players that apparently quit on him are long gone. There has never been a season with him as coach that I didn't anticipate. This season is most anticipated one of them all. Time to appreciate John Fox for what he is; a darn good coach. Top 5 Head Coach in the NFL. Go Panthers!!!!

All of you who complain about Fox will just complain about the next head coach too. Fox is a good coach and the players like him. We'll have a good season this year and then yall can find something else to whine about

Now for my comment to the fool. It is 2 days before a real game. A game that doesnt count in the long run but a real game against another team. I suppose you would have them not practice at all? I dont blame you for making up a stupid name to make posts like that so noone knows which moron you are. & to end this comment, WTG ME for punking yet another moron in here.

If this team quit on John Fox think we wouldn't have ended the season 4-1 last year. This team is going to surprise a lot of people this year. You idiots better get on the Panthers bandwagon while there is still plenty of room.

How about an update on Edwards please!!!

I agree Smiley, even announcers were talking about how the team was fighting hard for Fox even after they were eliminatred from the playoffs.

Bernz just proves how stupid and clueless he is with those ignorant comments. And shows he know nothing about football.

Weren't you guys complaining about how Fox decided to cut camp short last year? Now we've got "fans" complaining about how camp practices are just days before the preseason.

Can't please anyone eh.
