Fox: Clausen to start

Panthers coach John Fox kept saying it wasn't all the quarterback's fault, but that's the only job he changed Monday.

In somewhat of a surprise (not in content but time of delivery), Fox announced that Jimmy Clausen would start at quarterback sunday against Cincinnati.

Matt Moore was responsible for six turnovers in the first two games, completing just 40.8 percent of his passes.

Clausen came in and drove the team well in relief against the Buccaneers, but his chance at a touchdown drive ended when RB Jonathan Stewart was stopped short on fourth-and-goal at the Bucs 1.

Thank you for writing in all caps and with such eloquence. From the way your write, I'm not the least surprised you're a Saints fan, although I'm a little surprised you were able to access a computer from the swamps of Louisiana.

On Clausen's first drive; If this had been a normal drive, it would have atleast netted 3 points. He will win a few ballgames for us!!!!

I'm more willing to suffer throw some losses, ints, etc. with Clausen so he can learn and grow as a QB. He's our future!

Sell the team Richardson. Sell the team!!! Its doesnt matter who the QB is this coming week. The Panthers lose this one as well 0-3 start.

Super Bowl here we come haha. Well not that far but i think he will look even better with a weeks worth of practice with the first team to get some timing down with everyone.

@ callingitlikeiseeit:

You're a moron! The Saints are not the best team in the NFL and that was proven with their lackluster showing against the Vikings. Go comment on a Saints forum and quit wasting space on the Charlotte Observer, which is for CAROLINA PANTHERS fans! Get over your team and yourself...it only took 40 years for your team to win a Super Bowl.

You mean you only have to post your comment once??? Who knew???

Lucky Panthers have all their drafts picks next year so when they do finish with 4-5 wins they can use those early picks to get some talent!

Posted by: John | Sep 20, 2010 1:41:12 PM

I can't believe the hate for Richardson. He has taken this year to position the franchise for the next 10 years. In the Panthers 15 year existence Jerry has done everything he can to put a winner on the field. Fox will be gone after this year and the new coach will get a young team, with a high draft pick and that is well under whatever salary cap is determined. Remember JR knows exactly what is happening on the labor front and is doing what he can to put his house in order so that the Panthers will be a strong competitive organization under the new rules.

Put the blame where it belongs. The offensive line has been terrible. We have one wide receiver that is worth anything. Lets see how many games Clausen goes before he gets hurt. Moore has already taken a beating this year.

Posted by: Avante | Sep 20, 2010 1:42:27 PM

So last year he sticks with Jake till he's forced out with injury. This year Matt doesn't even two games, despite sucky O-line play and no receivers.

People keep talking about that Drive from Clausen. I'm sorry but you do realize that the Bucs backed off in more of a prevent defense and allowed Clausen to nickle and dime his way down field. Moore had no time in comparison and was using fewer receivers downfield. Not to mention that Talib left for a series and allowed Steve Smith to actually be open.

I personally don't think Clausen is the answer, he'll be another Capt Checkdown like Brady Quinn or Matt Leinert.

I was hopeful for 8-8 but now realistically 5-11 or 6-10 will be their record. Hopefully Jimmy C will at least spark this team ! MAKE A PLAY FOR VINCENT JACKSON !
